About this listen

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored. Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don't go for girls like Cam Emerson. She knew from the second she met him that he didn't belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf - the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground. Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She's made it perfectly clear she's not interested in him - not like that at least - but if she ever changes her mind, he won't hesitate. Because he doesn't see the lines she's drawn between them, as much as she insists that they're there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they're a match well made.

Feel good book

Any additional comments?

While this book was utterly predictable, the narration was good and it kept me interested. I did feel a little bit like Tyler was too perfect and that felt unrealistic to me, but I listened to it quickly and enjoyed it. If you're in the mood for a feel good romance post-college aged then this is for you! Just don't expect any crazy twists.

Finally

I have to wait long periods of time to find a book that is narrated in this manner. I was so overjoyed when I found it. Jason and Kristen did a remarkable job in their narration. I would love to listen to more books read by them in this manner. The story itself was slow and I really did not care for it much but the narration made it worth listening to. Wish there were more books read in this manner. I miss listening to books. I just do not like hearing females trying to sound like men and men trying to sound like women. Well worth a listen.

Toss up

Ok, I love me some Staci Hart and this book was no different. Lots of sweet and sexy and medium angst.

This wasn't my favorite tho because Cam (the heroine) was super whiny and it was kind of much ado about nothing.

That being said, I totally listened to the whole thing and Tyler was freakin hot and adorable and confident and so incredibly sweet to Cam that I would listen over and over just to get more Tyler.

Jason Clarke and Kirsten Leigh are fantastic narrators. Love them. However I loathe duet narration or conversational narration or whatever it is called. BUT if you are going to listen to one, this is a great one to listen to. They do a great job with it. I just wish it didn't exist. 😉

non-growly Jason Clarke but loved iiiit

Jason made the MMC so vulnerable, my heart ached whenever he spoke and pined for the MFC! And finally a beta kind of hero! I will def. relisten to his lines! It was so interesting, bc normally Jason does alphas and I f..n loved him as a beta! not that beta but not alpha either! Not a growly alphahole for a change :)

As for the story, the MFC was a brat by questioning his feelings all the time, but as one with the same doubts all my life, I could totally relate to her and I felt for them..but the third act conflict was just so...predictable and the solution too easy, but I enjoyed this book totally :)

Fireworks!

Quite possibly the BEST first kiss I’ve ever read/listened to. Perfectly descriptive while not being distracting. And Jason’s narration of the MMC during the scene = SWOOOOOOOOOONY MCSWOONFACE.

Minus one star because I think they took the MFC’s anxieties a little to the extreme. It didn’t seem like the anxiety was proportionate to the situation that caused her insecurities and she got a little tedious. I doubt any man, even the most patient, would put up with that.

But overall, an adorably cute and butterfly-inducing listen.

Possibly the Coolest Bar/Coffee & Book Shop Ever!

My favorite type of narration!! I love when the woman reads all the women voices and the man reads all the male voices regardless of POV.

The main character, Cam Emerson, seems like a busy body. She enjoys setting people up, reads a lot, knows several languages and is probably someone that would get on my nerves if I knew her because she's a little too perky. But in the story, she grows on me and is a little endearing. She works at a bar called Wasted Words, it seems to be a cross between a bar and a book store.

Her best friend/roommate is a former football player who is a 6'6" beautiful specimen. Tyler Knight ends up subletting a room with Cam after a break up with his model girl friend. Tyler and Cam are great friends and Tyler spends a lot of time at Wasted Words with Cam and her co-workers/friends.

There is chemistry between them but Cam has made it clear they are in the friend zone only. Her reasons for this unfold as the story progresses but Tyler doesn’t understand. The story is slow to get to the point but I enjoyed the process and it ends in a HEA.

Nerdy girl gets hot guy, yaaaaay!!!

First let me say that I enjoyed this book. It was sweet, funny, and romantic. I like that it paired a nerdy girl with the hot guy! I wish that there really was a place called Waisted Words, if there was I would go there ALL the time! Narration was totally on point, however, the main reason I listened to it was to hear Jason Clarke, and he didn't narrate nearly as much as I would have liked :)
The only thing I really didn't like was Cam's self esteem. I get that she was damaged, but I felt it took it a little too far. It went from ok I can relate to that, to now she's just being an idiot. Other than my occasional irritations with Cam I thoroughly enjoyed it. Totally loved the part with the twins, that was hilarious.

💕💕Feel good story!!

Ok, so I like Jason Clarke a tad more erotic, dark and passionate. This is one of his PG-13 romances from an earlier date. He has gotten soooo much better in his current narrations. He was freakin' fantastic in The Stone Brothers series. But back to this story; It's a satisfying HEA and had some feel good moments. Nothing edgy which I prefer but I love listening to him. Kirsten Leigh was on target in her narration too. I loved the dual narration as well. But I used a credit to listen to Jason. No regrets!! 😉😉
