Now I get why some people hate horror

[CONTAINS SPOILERS]

The concept of this novella was good enough for me to finish it, despite not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. The young child character was embarrassing to listen to. The dialogue was so bad, I'm not sure if anyone could have made it better. Actually, I'm not sure if this author has ever met a child. Or been one.

Content warning: "Smell my farts, sis!" That poor VA.

unsatisfying ending and nothing is revealed. moments that should have been cathartic were not, because I was too distracted by plot holes and poor character choices.

[SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER]

witches I can get behind, but a castaway'd alcoholic picking baby wipes and Listerine before NyQuil? seems convenient.

Wow in a good way

I’m not typically a horror genre fan but I enjoyed this book! I enjoyed Linda Jones narration. The author wrote it well. My jaw was on the floor at the end. I wasn’t expecting that ending. Overall a quick and excellent listening.
It does a quite of a bit of cursing, but it was part of the story.

it was alright?

I enjoyed like 90% of the book. liked the premise and where it was going and then the ending lost me. or the last 10% of the book? I don't know. there were parts that really packed a punch and then some parts that were just a tap on the shoulder.

Probably would not have finished if the book was any longer.

It felt like half the book was characters repeating phrases 3+ times in a row. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that there was a literary purpose for this but it really got on my nerves. It is probably less grating when reading the book versus listening.

It’s worth the sad feelings

This BLEAK and grotesque horror story takes an unexpected turn that I found to be original and exciting. The story’s paralyzing tension caused me to finish it in one sitting so get comfortable because it’s a wild ride!

Linda Jone’s performance was truly fantastic!

Powerful mind bending punch

What a great chunk of a horror sorry. The characters were so great and felt ‘real’ when put in a survival situation. Really loved it

A bit vague, but I guess thats the point?

The story and narration overall are pretty good, but the only time I felt any real "horror" aspect of the story was when we heard, "Im a good boy."

I was hoping that would be the turning point where we see more paranormal/horror, but instead just more Dad and Snake.

The end leaves us to our imagination, which is alright, if we didnt already spent several hours in a vague haze throughout the book.

Poor choice of narrator but some creepy moments

The characters are almost insufferably annoying, and the narrator was a terrible choice to voice a teenage girl, but the story was solid, and some parts creeped me out.

The most suspenseful story set in a bathroom ever

An unforgettable novella, in which a dysfunctional family trapped in a bathroom attempts to retain their sanity. Booth expertly creates and sustains tension throughout, never giving the reader easy answers. The lines of reality are constantly blurred, leaving the audience as unsettled as the family. The narrator is fantastic, deftly drawing the reader in with pitch perfect delivery of Booth's taut dialogue. A must for horror fans.
