Publisher's summary

He was a fishing guide and struggling artist from a south George trailer park. She was the beautiful only child of South Carolina's most powerful senator. Yet once Doss Michaels and Abigail Grace Coleman met by accident, they each felt they'd found their true soul mate.

Ten years into their marriage, when Abbie faces a life-threatening illness, Doss battles it with her every step of the way. And when she makes a list of 10 things she hopes to accomplish before she loses the fight for good, Doss is there, too, supporting her and making everything possible. Together they steal away in the middle of the night to embark upon a 130-mile trip down the St. Mary's River - a voyage Doss promised Abbie in the early days of their courtship.

Where the River Ends chronicles their love-filled, tragedy-tinged journey and a bond that transcends all.

Tears

Tear jerker. The story of amazing love was so refreshing, cancer sucks, but love lives on!

Where the River Ends

A very pink and gut wrenching story from a black water river-rat's point of view. Set partly in the often used Holy City and then predictably at the title.

Where the River Ends

I would give this a 5 star except it was a bit hard to keep on track with the continual jumps back and forth in time. I think this was harder to keep track of in the audiobook than it would have been if reading the story myself from a written book. But a good story if a bit farfetched in places.

always engaging

has a little more language than I'm used to for Charles Martin but a very engaging and honest story about terminal illness, love and the clash of social differences

Healing ending

This book was about a true love story and involved cancer and death from cancer. The ending was how a heart can be changed from prejudice to understanding. I ordered more Charles Martin’s books

A testament of love through cancer

Enjoyable and gripping love story that encompasses the human side of caring for a loved one with cancer and how no matter what cancer cannot win.

Beautiful love story

Narrator was very good. I enjoyed his voice and the different voices were easy to discern. Story had a slow start for me but I hung in there because I love Charles Martin books so much. Glad I did.
Not my absolute favorite CM story but very good, none-the-less. I do recommend this book.

Wonderful. Painful. Amazing.

I’m simply amazed. This is the fifth or sixth book of his I’ve listened to. It was the hardest to get into so far, but it was so worth it. I will never look at cancer patients or their families and friends the same way again. I was in tears throughout much of the second half of the book. And the end...
My chest was so tight and I couldn’t breathe. It was so beautiful and painful. Charles Martin has a real gift.
