About this listen

An internationally famous photographer, Tucker Mason has traveled the world, capturing things other people don’t see. But what Tucker can’t see is how to let go of his traumatic childhood and forgive his father.

On a sprawling Southern estate, Tucker and his younger brother, Mutt, were raised by their housekeeper, Miss Ella Rain, who loved the motherless boys like her own. Hiring her to take care of Waverly Hall and the boys was the only good thing their abusive and alcoholic father ever did.

When his brother escapes from a mental hospital and an old girlfriend appears with her son and a black eye, Tucker is forced to return home and face the agony of his tragic past.

Though Miss Ella has been gone for many years, Tucker can still hear her voice - and her prayers. "Life is a battle, but you can’t fight it with your fists. You got to fight it with your heart." But finding peace and starting anew will take a measure of grace that Tucker scarcely believes in.

Wrapped in Rain follows Tucker’s journey from brokenness to healing through the everlasting power of love.

Praise for Wrapped in Rain:

"Charles Martin is changing the face of inspirational fiction one book at a time. Wrapped in Rain is a sentimental tale that is not to be missed." (Michael Morris, author of A Place Called Wiregrass and Live Like You Were Dying)

"This is the story of a real person’s real struggle with the uncertainties of faith, unadorned with miracles of the deus ex machina sort but full of the sort of miracles that attend everyday life if you bother to notice. Charles Martin notices, and for that I commend him. He’s unafraid of tackling the crucial questions - life, death, love, sacrifice." (Duncan Murrell, editor and writer)

Deep

Sometimes, when I'm reading Charles Martin, it takes awhile to get into it. But I just hang on because he will draw me in to a spellbinding novel, usually sprinkle some Jesus in, and usually make me cry!

It deserves a 10 out if 5 stars!

Why have I not heard of this book since 2005 when it was published? Or maybe I just needed this beautiful story of Hesed/ steadfast love, forgiveness and redemption at this time in my life as told through the eyes of a damaged boy of the south. Wow, just wow!

Once again, does not disappoint

As always, a great read! Loved the characters, and the deep south setting. Highly recommend!

Good book

More “Bible verses and religious talk” than my husband liked but other then that, it was an interesting story and kept us engaged the entire book! Recommended for sure!

good read, while not the best

I've listened to a lot of this authors book/ audiobooks, and was surprised at the lack of action. A sweet story of love and redemption, it seems like it was missing something that most of his other books aren't.

Faith

The story is very faith driven. Many many subjects from child abuse, alcohol abuse, violence and more are touch on in this book and could trigger someone else’s trauma. But oh the incredible faith and love that fuels this book. Very well done .

Loved the story! Loved the reader!

Glad I came back to it! Initially, I thought this was going to be the first Charles Martin book I didn’t like. I struggled with chapter 2 about the psych ward. For me, the chapter dragged and I eventually gave up and disappointedly went on to a different author. After that book, returned to this and committed to getting through that chapter. So glad I did! Another fantastic book by one of my favorite authors!

Another beautiful story

Though I question having a dead mother figure continue to speak into the main character’s mind, her godly counsel saved his life. Beautifully read, well worth a listen.
