About this listen
When multimillion-selling vocalist and actress Kelly Rowland gave birth to her son Titan in November 2014, it was love at first sight - she honestly could not believe how beautiful he was. But, as Rowland says, she would be lying if she said she wasn't also a little freaked out about what had just happened to her body as well as by many overwhelming new thoughts and emotions. It was a good thing that Dr. Tristan Bickman, Rowland's OB/GYN for the last 14 years, was there, day and night, to answer every single question that popped into her head, no matter how raunchy. With Dr. Bickman no topic is off-limits, and she provided Rowland with the reassurance she so desperately needed, telling her over and over that, in the months after a woman gives birth, nothing is exactly strange - but nothing is necessarily normal, either.
There are so many guides to what our kids need, from the time they're the size of a poppy seed to the time they start kindergarten. But what about what the mother needs? In Whoa, Baby!, Rowland and Dr. Bickman team up to cover everything a new mom needs to know: the gross physical stuff; the hormonal and emotional stuff ("why am I crying five times a day when this is the happiest I've ever been?"); and the just plain weird stuff ("why did my nipples change colors?"). Listeners will simultaneously cringe in agony and shriek with laughter at the scenarios Rowland and Dr. Bickman describe ("what happens if I fall asleep with the pump on?"; "why does sex still hurt when I had a C-section?"; "why are my legs so swollen?").

Instead, Mayim got her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, married her college sweetheart, and had two kids. Story
Mayim Bialik was the child star of the popular 1990s TV sitcom Blossom, but she definitely didn't follow the typical child-star trajectory. Instead, Mayim got her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, married her college sweetheart, and had two kids. Mayim then did what many new moms do - she read a lot of books, talked with other parents, and she soon started questioning a lot of the conventional wisdom she heard about the "right" way to raise a child. That's when she turned to attachment parenting.

When Amy B. Scher was struck with undiagnosed late-stage, chronic Lyme disease, the best physicians in America labeled her condition incurable and potentially terminal. Deteriorating rapidly, she went on a search to save her own life - from the top experts in Los Angeles and the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis to a state-of-the-art hospital in Chicago. After exhausting all of her options in the US, she discovered a possible cure - but it was highly experimental, available only in India, and had as much of a probability of killing her as it did of curing her.

Story
Much has happened to Gabrielle Reece since her 1997 best seller Big Girl in the Middle. She’s still gorgeous, still 6’3”, and a dominant force on and off the beach, but in the last 15 years, she’s settled down with world-class surfer Laird Hamilton and raised three stunning blonde girls. Her life might seem like a fairy tale from afar, but four years after her picture-perfect Hawaiian marriage to Laird, Gabrielle filed for divorce. In the end, the couple worked it out, but My Foot Is Too Big for the Glass Slipper tells the unvarnished and often hilarious tale of the turbulent ups and downs that beset every wife and mother - even the women like Gabrielle who seem to have it all.

I started reading this book a couple of weeks before I had my first child and it was so on point and timely! I loved the transparency and openness. There were so many topics I never discussed with my own doctor or other mom friends. I found this book to be extremely helpful while transitioning into life as a new mommy! Way to go, Kelly!

2nd Time Mom to Be
Where does Whoa, Baby! What Just Happened? rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Of all of the audiobooks I've read, Whoa, Baby! What Just Happened may be the only one I would give a second listen.
What did you like best about this story?
I really enjoyed how candid Kelly seemed.
What does Kelly Rowland and Tristan Bickman MD bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I really enjoyed hearing Kelly's voice. I purchased the book because it was written by Kelly. I would have been very disappointed to hear a different voice narrating.
Any additional comments?
It sounds like Kelly is reading from a script, but it isn't very distracting. The content was very informative and honest. I enjoyed this book.

Kelly is so relatable!
Kelly frames this in a way that any modern woman can relate. Kelly explains and bares all truths about postpartum symptoms - it’s so down-to-earth! Having her doctor speak to give medical clarity to what a mother feels at different postpartum symptoms gives the book credibility. I will read this book again before or during postpartum time for me.

Best Baby Book I've Read So Far!
As a first-time pregnant mom, I've been getting constantly mad at all the moms around me for not telling me the honest truth about pregnancy and warning me for what is to come. This book does exactly that. It tells you all the gross stuff to watch out for, what's normal and what's not, answers all the crazy questions you look up on Google and BabyCenter in the middle of the night. I was a little worried about reading a book written by a celebrity, because they are often super annoying and flat and clearly ghost written, but Kelly does a really nice job injecting her personality, her heart and Dr. Bickman's advice into her story. Highly recommend this book. Probably will need to listen to it again when I'm freaking out about my changing body post-pregnancy.

Out of touch
This book has a lot in it that is just out of touch with normal women who aren’t rich celebs… it was ok but I wouldn’t recommend.
