Publisher's summary

In her most candid and revealing book yet, acclaimed broadcast journalist and Baby Boomer Joan Lunden delves into the various phases of aging that leave many feeling uncomfortable, confused, and on edge. In her hilarious book, Lunden takes the dull and depressing out of aging, replacing it with wit and humor. After all, laughing is better than crying - unless it makes you pee!

Funny, captivating, and raw, no topic is off limits. Lunden goes where others fear to tread, openly talking about wrinkles and age spots (which Lunden insists are sunspots), expanding waistlines (no, you didn't shrink your jeans), diminished energy (my get-up-and-go got up and went), weak pelvic floors (yes, we're talking about leaking), hot flashes (they suck), disrupted sleep (the morning host is an expert on lack of sleep), changes in sex drive (oh yeah, she goes there), ageism (it exists and it pisses us off), and yes, the real reasons we suddenly find ourselves always searching for those car keys!

Through her poignant and often laugh-out-loud funny personal experiences, Lunden candidly shares her anxieties and breakthroughs. Why Did I Come into This Room? also explores the science of aging, including how it impacts the body and brain, while dispelling myths and revealing useful options to stave off the aging process as long as possible.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio. Joan shares honest and truthful information. Joan is spot-on when she talks about the aging process. I’m 6 months younger than Joan and I can relate to many of the chapters. Thank you Joan!!

A wonderful book! Such an inspiration!

I have always loved Joan London! This book came along at just the right time for me in life. I intend to refer to this book many times in the future because there is so much good information to improve our live. She's really done her research on subjects about health and women's senior years.

I love Joan's sense of humor, candor and intelligence. I purchased the book and the Audible versions. They are both great. I enjoyed listening to her voice. You can almost hear her smiles! The book is very well written and I love all the quotes she shared. Some are old favorites of mine.

Thank you Joan for sharing your wit and wisdom!

Take away some helpful advice

I think the message of this book is that you are not alone as you age. You have to maintain a good mental state and a positive attitude. There is some good information to take away, but a lot of it is common sense and way too simplistic. Her advice about weight and body fat was annoying because she kept talking about wanting to be skinny and dealing with belly fat instead of working towards having a good body image and not comparing yourself to others. Overall, her message about having a positive attitude was good advice.

It was Boring and repetitious:

I love Joan and followed her for years. The book was boring and I couldn’t finish it. It was too monotone to listen to and the humor just wasn’t there. Sorry Joan.
