About this listen

Will Dorning, as an earl's spare, has accepted the thankless duty of managing his rambunctious younger siblings, though Will's only true companions are the dogs he's treasured since boyhood. When aristocratic London is plagued with a series of dognappings, Will's brothers are convinced that he's the only person who can save the stolen canines from an awful fate.

Shy, bookish Lady Susannah Haddonfield has no patience with loud, smelly beasts of any species, but must appear to like dogs so as not to offend her sister's only marital prospect. Susannah turns to Will, an acquaintance from her most awkward adolescent years, to teach her how to impersonate a dog fancier. Will has long admired Susannah, though he lacks the means to offer for her, and, yet, as they work together to rescue the purloined pets, it's loyal, dashing Will who steals Susannah's heart.

Contains mature themes.

Calling all 🐶 lovers

Good sweet story. But if you’re a dog lover, this is definitely the book for you. Hero is a Champions of dogs 🐕 and a blue stocking wall flower.

Ok. stupid FMC, but some humorous moments.

The background revolves around the love for and handling of dogs. If you are a dog owner/ lover, you will find many familiar and quite funny scenes. The romance, however, pitters along without much feeling. No rivals, no tension, no questions about the lack of communication or acknowledgment of longing for the past SEVEN years?? -snore - They fall too easily, overlook their obstacle, & assume too much. In other words, their courtship is boring. The sex scenes cut and pasted from previous books and reused throughout the book. zzzzzz

The FMC, Susanna, is ridiculous single-minded and DUMB!! She is so in love with Shakespeare's literary works she conducts herself as a character in his farcical satires. Unfortunately, this just makes her appear daft and her judgment idiotic.

I finished the book because I enjoyed the dog training inspired theme but the rest, but the romance HEA is luke warm at best ... eh <shrug>

Nice bit of fluff

Witty, woofy, and weirdly cute. All characters were well developed and their behaviors supported the storyline and created interest and anticipation. Enjoyed Willow’s family and their interactions. Nice use of canines in the development of the intrigue. All in all I would recommend.

Oh my goodness

I’ve never read such a book. It was laugh-out-loud funny in many places. You know, I never thought about dogs during the 1800’s. Interesting perspective. Is there a sequel?

Will’s true Wish

I liked this book a lot. The plot is original and the dogs add life to the book. The dialogue was engaging and the story moved on quickly. This is the first book for the author and I am already downloading the next. The narrator was exceptional!

Love Dogs

Yup, lots of dogs in this one and they all survive whole and hearty. The humans are pretty cool too.

Loved this book.

5 stars here. I read lots of regency novels, and enjoy many of them, but this was a really fun book. Both the hero and heroine were likeable, and it was full of Interesting and honorable characters that I was able to wholeheartedly like, Enough suspense to hold my interest without the high level of tension or unpleasant violent events which can create an unpleasant experience for me as the reader. Even all the dogs got a happily ever after. The only negative for me is that my preference is for the bedroom details to remain private, however at least there were only a few of those unnecessarily detailed graphic sex scenes, and I was able to easily fast forward past them to avoid sharing those type of private details, without missing any of the story line.
