About this listen

When Savannah Dawson married the second son of an English earl, she never dreamed she'd have to leave America, let alone enter the aristocracy at her son's side. Yet when the earl dies and her husband disappears at sea, Savannah's life is upended. Bringing her young son to England to meet her shrewish mother-in-law is only the beginning of her trials. The dowager countess has asked a duke to assist in the new earl's education - a man whose power and position could define the course of Savannah's life. Proud and stubborn, Savannah refuses to be intimidated. And yet neither can she resist the attraction between them.

Reformed rakehell Gabriel Armstrong, Duke of Clevedon, has no room in his life for a woman. Especially an American commoner, the widow of his childhood friend. Beautiful and bold, Savannah nevertheless captivates his imagination.

Rumors abound that Savannah's husband is alive. Forces are at work to deny her son his title. And when an interloper arrives demanding repayment or revenge, the life of Savannah's son is in jeopardy. Savannah and Gabriel must work together to escape the shadows that could blot out the light of their future.

Contains mature themes.

Horrible Narrator

Story was fine but narration was painful to listen to. The narrator tends to lisp the last letter of most of the works. It’s highly distracting

Good plot but…

Good plot but the dialogue was stilted. The porn was unnecessary in my opinion: It didn’t add anything to the story. The characters were rich in possibilities that were underdeveloped. The ML was more emotional than the FL. I would have liked Savanna to show more feelings and expressions in her speech. Overall, it was a disappointing book with such a promising plot. This was my first time reading this author’s work. Maybe this is one of her earlier books.

Loved!

I love this storyline and always like it when they merge the Americans and our cousins the English. It always makes for a lot of excitement and intrigue! The narrator is good but I never like her male voices.

Good story but…..

This was a good story but I just could not finish the book due to this narrator. This is the 2nd book that I have heard her read and both of them got under my skin.

Wishing

For a different narrator. I listened at 1.2 speed but it was odd. That said I didn’t hesitate to buy since this narrator is usually quite enjoyable to listen to.

The story was good. It could have used more heat to go with the segsy bits, it needed the chemistry to build a little at least.
Otherwise we’ll done.

I am glad I got it during a sale. I’d recommend reading it and not using a credit to listen to it.

Stunning Salisbury Story!!

I found Ms. Salisbury approach to storytelling refreshingly direct yet intriguing. Her charming historical characterization were spot on. As far as the narration, I would term it as quirky and not at all "distracting" as well as appropriate to the historical setting. Please give us more Ms. Salisbury!!

Best narrator!

The sorry was interesting and moved along, it had all the elements that make the story exciting. The narrator is superb and made the story, her voice makes the hero sound so sexy. Thank you !

Mary Sarah's narration kills this story

Mary Sarah is on our short list of narrators to avoid thanks to her completely fake English accent
and overdramatic breathy cadences. She pronounces words that rhyme with back as "bock" and other similar treats.

This is otherwise a straightforward romance where problems that arise get sorted out directly. Nothing amazing, nothing funny, just a solid romance novel to pass the time. Will give JR Salisbury other tries as the story was fine but I rec only suffering thru Mary Sarah on Plus Catalog where it's close to free.

If I could put a - 0 stars in performance I would

It kinda feels like the narrator was purposefully putting a th when it should be said with a d or t and her sing song tone feels like nails to a chalkboard but the sing song tone is typical for this narrator. You would think after hearing her reviews she would take it as constructive criticism and change for the better because I feel she is capable of being an amazing narrator if she would just listen to her audience. It’s like she was purposely trying to be a wretched narrator. I don’t know maybe she didn’t like the negative reviews on her? This was truly horrible! I had to put it at high speed because Iv heard this narrator before and if I thought she could not get any worse she proved me wrong….. I wonder what is this platform for… I guess only to worn YOU listener, because the higher people in charge don’t give a fig to change this particular narrator. I wonder why the author does not complain? It affects the author in the long run the way her book is being read.

And narrator if you are reading this, I hope you take it not as an attack but a challenge to better your skill. Listen to your audience don’t take it personal. You don’t need the sing song voice and to add any embellishments to what you are reading. The different caricature voices are amazing….. Sometimes less is more.

Bad Narration

I could not get past chapter 2. The narrator was just to slow to speak and the lisp at the end of each word just got on my nerves. I suggest you preview before you purchase. Will not be making that mistake.
