Mack Banes is the first face you want to see in the last place you'd want to be…

Wreck Jumpers are highly specialized soldiers trained for search and rescue deep behind enemy lines. They are the special forces operators sent in when things have already gone from bad to worse.

Malcolm "Mack" Baines and his Recovery Team are the best of the best. When a Special Orbital Assault Regiment School nestled inside an asteroid belt suddenly goes dark, Mack and his team of Wreck Jumpers are tasked with putting eyes on the target.

Their mission: recon the site and turn the comms back on.

What they find is a base in chaos with survivors desperately holding out for rescue amid oceans of floating rock and an unknown enemy determined to make the Wreck Jumpers part of a growing body count.

Just one wrong move could mean a crushing end in the cold vacuum of space and the death of everyone relying on Mack and his operators…

But that's why Mack became a Wreck Jumper in the first place.

Sci-Fi space PJ’s

It’s got almost all of the KTF action as occurs now n the rest of the far reaching dumpster fires that are spread from one side of the Galaxy’s edge to the other. Except these dudes are kind like if an operator from the Unit and a PJ had a baby. No, I am NOT saying 2 HSLD guys can make a baby, it’s allegory or whatever, but if you get the gist then you get the gist of you don’t then well you don’t. Great listen though. I enjoyed it. Had all the dark humor that soldiering in shitholes will give you! Love it and I want a 2nd helping of Legionaire KTFing like it’s PFM Awesomeness.

Another book, another addiction.

Mack, Fresher, and Co are back at it again. First called to come to the rescue of a little sister service, Rec-team Pelican quickly gets embroiled in the hunt for and cover up of a mysterious signal. While the A-Sec guys and gals chase down leads our friendly neighborhood leejs who are more about the heartbeats than the KTF are forced to chase down the signal when a SOAR school gets molly whomped by some outside bad actors and they are sent in to rescue a school full of hullbusters and some broken leejs.

Eagle eyed readers/listeners should be able to clue into what the mysterious signal based upon the timeline of this book.

It was a slow story. It was a new storyline, but I will pass on the next book.

Slow

I picked this up after reading Cole’s Strainge Company which I thought was great. This book however was super boring. The characters were flat and interchangeable. No real humor that I could see. There was almost zero sci-fi. Ya it’s on other planets and there are aliens but the planets aren’t explored and the aliens are either in the military and basically indistinguishable from the humans or they are the bad guys and presented as thinly vailed stereotypes of people from the Middle East. In its defense I could only get through a couple hours, 3, so it might have gotten better after that. Edit apparently I made is 5 hours. Doubt it gets better after that.

So boring

Imagine puking out all of the military jargon you know and some that is made up into some semblance of a story. Then you try to fit a cohesive narrative into the mold you've created. That's what you have here. I tried to like this. Boring, Flat, Repetitive, and left me not wanting anything else from this author.

What a mess...

Story is okay though, because this is jumping in to an established world, there are a few things that don't make sense with other books.

The narrator did a decent job, but I don't think he was right for the book. His character voices didn't sound like military professionals and struck me more as Vietnam era draftees. It could be the writing and not just his tone, but didn't click for me.

Excited to get back with the Legion
