About this listen

Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, New York Times best-selling author Christina Dodd delivers an all-new thriller, featuring a bold and brash female protagonist.

Wrong job....

Eighteen-year-old Evelyn Jones lands a job in small-town Alaska, working for a man in his isolated mountain home. But her bright hopes for the future are shattered when Donald White disappears, leaving her to face charges of theft, embezzlement - and a brutal double murder. Her protestations of innocence count for nothing. Convicted, she faces life in prison...until fate sends her on the run.

Wrong name....

Evie's escape leaves her scarred and in hiding, isolated from her family, working under an alias at a wilderness camp. Bent on justice, intent on recovering her life, she searches for the killer who slaughters without remorse.

Wrong alibi....

At last, the day comes. Donald White has returned. Evelyn emerges from hiding; the fugitive becomes the hunter. But in her mind, she hears the whisper of other forces at work. Now Evelyn must untangle the threads of evidence before she’s once again found with blood on her hands: the blood of her own family....

Dodd's twisty suspense will have listeners up late and keeping the lights on at night.

Doing so well until 2 hours to go....

Not sure how you feel but for me when a main character suddenly turns stupid and does stupid I lose interest pretty fast. Up until that point I could swallow some of the details (having lived in Alaska) but with 2 hours to go they almost lost me. A couple of zigs and zags towards the end- but not really consistent.

Very good after a slow start

I struggled through the first few chapters, but once the freezing winter was over I found the story intriguing. I liked the characters and couldn't wait to learn how the story ended.

its just okay

the story should have ended after Mr. GReen/White died. Its like the author felt she had to add to the ending and it was just too far fetched.

Solid Good Book!

I thought long and hard for a reason NOT to give this book a five and finally figured that it I have to think that hard, it was at least a four! The narrator wasn't the best (3.5 stars), but the storline was consistently interesting. Now, I do wish that more details were given about some of the villains...but I would still definitely recommend the book!

The ending —BOOOO

Enjoyed the first 75% — then author clearly gave up at the end. Reminded me of my daughter’s books (she is very clever, but 14.)

good almost to the end.

inn the begining, the story was pretty well written with a good foundation, but the last few chapters went somewhere else with the story line. bummer

not for me

This story really had potential. I just couldn't get past the eye rolling comments and unrealistic actions of the characters. I finished, but barely.

A Mystery to Enjoy

This audiobook was captivating from beginning to end. You clearly see the transition of the main character from stupid naive kid to responsible adult within n the framework of a twisting storyline. While some of the twists were extreme, I think they were believable within context. Enjoy
