About this listen

Maisie Brinley rejected every bachelor in the Boston elite put forth by her social-climbing mother. Then Mother issues an ultimatum to marry a family friend—but he's twice Maisie's age. After corresponding with a stranger whose letters connect with her heart, Maisie crosses the continent for his love. When they meet, will he live up to her expectations, or will her escape be in vain?

Living in Wylder, Wyoming Territory—where men outnumber women ten to one—gunsmith Cyrus Haddock hides his disfigured face to avoid romantic rejection. Out of pity, he helps a friend woo a woman through letter writing. But his success backfires when Cyrus falls in love with the Easterner's words. When they meet, will Cyrus hide his feelings or confess his love?

Fall in Love!

Some books are so easy to fall into and find the love is so easy to share. This book is one of those! Cyrus is a gunsmith, not the handsomest man but has a way with words. When his best friend asks for help to write letters for a mail order bride, he is hesitant, but takes on the task. Maisie has not taken to any of the suitors brought to her by her parents. Now they are getting desperate, and Maisie's way out is being a mail order bride! She finds a connection with Cyrus, and off to Wyoming she goes. But now what is going to happen? Obviously, the man she thinks she is going to marry is not the man she has gotten to know. And what of the dangers going across the country? She takes her friend Kara, and our adventure begins. There is something about being in Wylder that is comforting to me. I feel like I know the town well with all the novels in the series, and this one captures so many people I know! Cyrus, Maisie and Kara are all people I feel I would like to know, and the ones chasing them are exactly those I would avoid! I fell for Cyrus immediately as his heart poured out and he is incredibly genuine. I love that Maisie saw him for who he is. This is a wonderful story and I loved every minute.

Dawson McBride continues bringing the romance to the old west with his fabulous narration. I love his voice, the way he connects with the characters and the voices he picks for each. He has made this series a pleasure to hear!
