About this listen

They live as outcasts, hated and feared by the very humanity they protect. They are mutants, born with strange and wonderful powers that set them apart from the rest of the human race. Under the tutelage of Professor Charles Xavier, they are more than mutants. They are the X-Men.

Magneto—the X-Men's oldest, deadliest foe—has taken over a top-secret government installation that houses the Sentinels, powerful mutant-hunting robots. The X-Men must fight to keep this deadly technology out of Magneto's hands and stop him from carrying out his grand plan: establishing a global Mutant Empire. The X-Men must join forces with old enemies to stop him—but in Magneto's brave new world, who can they trust?

I could picture the x-men in the long dragged out battle of a story. It has tons of action and some many great cameos of mutants

Comic book greatness

The narration was excellent, I enjoyed the story and it's thrilling action. Book 2 is when it really started getting exciting. Felt like a realistic reaction to a mutant uprising. Very entertaining!
Odd thing: they mentioned Beast was an Avenger but no other Superheroes are ever mentioned when Magneto takes over New York city. Feels like a Prequel to Fatal Attractions so they couldn't have met with Onslaught yet.

Mutant revolution

This is a great overall story of our beloved X-men, not an origin story for any of them, assumes previous knowledge of how the X-men universe works and came together, and yet gives enough backstory summary to not feel left out or missing previously established development.

Great solid story true to characters

I cannot throw enough praise at the Mutant Empire! This story took me right back to everything I love about 90s X-Men (despite my preference for Magneto be a reformed villain as he was in the 80s). The action sequences are fantastic, the conclusion is thoroughly satisfying, and the narration is top-notch.

One of the best adaptations of X-Men I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing!

Why does Magneto have an accent? McCoy's voice sounds like the answer to "what's a dumb guy sound like?". Even at 1.4 speed, the story just seemed tedious and slow. I understand that comics don't always translate to novels, but this could have been done better.

The narration is annoying..
