About this listen

Nicky Wilson tells other people's stories. A successful ghostwriter, she's penned tell-alls by actors, athletes, television chefs - weaving interviews and anecdotes into memoirs of love, loss, and overcoming adversity. The celebrities get best seller status, while Nicky pockets her paycheck and moves on.

Olivia Hayes, Nicky's new client, is the Martha Stewart of influencers, a domestic goddess with a perfectly accessorized home in the English countryside, a handsome husband, and impeccable taste. Through thousands of artfully hashtagged posts, Olivia shares endlessly while somehow retaining an air of mystery that enthralls her followers.

Olivia agrees to let Nicky into her house for a week, though she's frustratingly aloof at first and seems resentful of Nicky's presence. Yet little by little, Nicky breaks through the cracks in the glamorous façade. She notices Olivia's strained relationship with her husband, her overcautious parenting of their toddler, and the money worries the family can't hide. And then there are deeper secrets - including a tragedy that may shine light not just on Olivia's past, but on how far she'll go to preserve the life she's made. Soon, Nicky will learn the truth about Olivia. But it may be much more than she wanted to know....

Pretty good

Really interesting at times and I was totally into the story, but then it felt a bit confusing at times too. Also so implausible.

Great!

Great twists and turns with a compelling backstory. Emma Rowley has written some of my favorite thrillers, and I’m always excited when she releases something new!

Perfect

I honestly don’t believe this book could possibly have been better, or more satisfying.
I love the dual narratives, as I love when you get halfway through a book pretty certain you know what’s what and BOOM everything gets turned on it’s head.
It’s almost like getting two incredible mysteries for the price of one.
Phenomenal story, interesting characters, and two exceptional voice performers, what could be better???
The narration from both Olivia Dowyd, and Stephanie Racine are utterly pitch perfect.
These two women bring a wonderful book into a total experience and make this a 3 dimensional listen.
Their performances add so much depth and texture to this already fascinating story.
A creepy yet stunningly (too) perfect home in the countryside, a stunning and almost (too) perfect “influencer” and the ghost writer sent to tell her story….a very clever premise, exceptional characters, exceptional writing, atmosphere and even sweet and poignant at times.
This one was a stunner, don’t miss it!!!
Bravo to everyone involved, this is one great little book!

VERY Good

First time listening to this author and really liked her style and the flow of her writing. The narration is fantastic - Stephanie Racine a favourite of mine. Spot on cadence, rhythm and tone. Im a sucker for “UK” accents. As with most of these types of books you must suspend reality and “real life” rationale a bit while listening to the story but it’s quite good and I was interested from start to finish. The “twists” are good enough to keep you from figuring it all out early in the story or thinking you have it sorted out - because you don’t know for sure until you get much closer to the end. I liked this author so much I’m listening to her other book - Where the Missing Go - and it’s REALLY excellent. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Really, can we trust anyone?

“You Can Trust Me” started out well enough with suspense and anticipation. Halfway into this offering, the plot slowed, but still kept me listening. The expert narrative skills of both Stephanie Racine and Olivia Dowyd go above and beyond. My confusion disappeared and I was thrilled that it all came to an intricate and satisfying finale. I’ve found some hidden gems in my search by narrator. This listen was in the Audible Plus catalogue at no cost. To sum it up, recommended? Indeed!

I didn’t see it coming

This book kept me engaged. I don’t particularly LIKE it in the sense that everybody just kinda gave you on not that great feeling. But it was intriguing and a good mystery.

Truly, an excellent read!

This book was extremely enjoyable. Once you thought you had it all figured out, you’re wrong all the way to the very end. Truly one of my favorites now.
