About this listen

Zhubaal, fallen angel assistant to the Grim Reaper, has spent decades searching for the angel he loved and lost nearly a century ago. Not even her death can keep him from trying to find her, not when he knows she's been given a second chance at life in a new body. But as time passes, he's losing hope, and he wonders how much longer he can hold to the oath he swore to her so long ago....

As an emim, the wingless offspring of two fallen angels, Vex has always felt like a second-class citizen. But if she manages to secure a deal with the Grim Reaper - by any means necessary - she will have earned her place in the world. The only obstacle in the way of her plan is a sexy hardass called Z, who seems determined to thwart her at every turn. Soon it becomes clear that they have a powerful connection rooted in the past...but can any vow stand the test of time?

Another taste of the Demonica Underworld

I am in love with the whole series and will devour any continuation of this storyline. My only complaint is it is a little short...I want more of Z and Vex!

I loved Vex's character and was often yelling at Z in my head, but all in all a good story with lots of quick cameos from former characters we love.

Worth a credit...yes!!!

Enjoyable series

Interesting read and I really enjoy this series. Listened to it on Audible and the narrator does a fine job, but as with my previous reviews for this series, he doesn’t quite fit the characters for me; for some reason, I think of an English Professor or something when I hear his voice Still a solid performance.

I like the world this series is set in. Love the Hell like worlds this series ventures into, and enjoy a good, sexy demon falling in love. The romance was lacking a bit in this one for me though. The connection wasn’t quite there for me. I don’t like how Vex was willing to get with Z even though he kept on about how all he wanted was Laura. She keeps pushing herself on him, when he’s not treating her right. I suppose there’s a bit of a reason why she’s acting in certain ways sometimes, but still wanted her to be stronger in that aspect. I also didn’t care for how rude she is to Z about him saving himself for his “true love”. It’s nice to have a male character that wants to only share himself with the one meant for him. They do have some sweet moments though. The sex was okay, but not the hot tub scene; it was just eww.

Still a very entertaining story and a fun series to read. Looking forward to more!

Can overcoming a soul mate lead to true love?

Life and love both need to grow so when you fall in love young you know that the love you have will evolve as well as both parties involved. When that love is taken away too soon and you wait like Z did to find that love again you need to know it will not be the same, neither will the person.

Vex is nothing like Laura, Z's long lost love and yet her soul resides inside of Vex. Z is drawn to her. Vex is drawn to Z but is it because of Laura's soul? Can they find love despite that?

I love this story and all they have to overcome!

INTENSELY INTRIGUING

Paul Boehmer is my (2nd) favorite narrator - He really makes you feel like you are in the story - not just listening to it.

Can't get enough~

I'm drawn into the magickical world Larissa Ione has weaved. Who would think demons, fallen angels, the four horsemen along with a demon hospital could have such an intense appeal. Now add these awesome stories to the 1001 Dsrk Nights series and now I have an obsession. Z is so much better than I hoped. Finding the soul of his deceased love Laura was touching but him opening his mind and heart to Vex was obscenely erotic. I love this author and the way her books all connect with each other. Obsessive fan here 😏

Hot tub Sex Machine.

I always enjoy going back into Larissa Ione’s Demonica world and this short book is no exception. I like that the heroine is a strong, smart ass and likes to tease the hero, very hot and fun. I also like that she doesn’t let anybody tell her who she is. You also know that the sex is good when your partner goes full noodle, something was done right. This one brought back memories of the series and I may just have to go back and listen to the rest all over again, another sign this is a good series. I would have liked this book to have been longer. Narrator was good, I would gladly listen to him again.

Absolutely hated this!

I hate this trope whe it's done wrong. Ultimately it's someone in love with someone else. It's pathetic that she was fully aware he was in love with someone else (regardless if it's the same soul) and she just hung out for the ride. Everytime I thought shed put her foot down and walk away because he wished she was someone else, she just let it go instantly. There were a few token protests where she acted offended by him wishing she was someone else but then shed instantly act like it was a non issue.
