About this listen

If you're single and have a phone, chances are you've been subjected to the wonderful world of dating in the digital age. These days it seems like no one wants to commit to each other; everyone just wants to pick over the proverbial dating buffet and keep their options wide open. Between Tinder, OkCupid, casual sex, avoiding the "what are we" talk, and the inevitable and oh-so-charming "u up?" text, it can be a bizarre world to navigate. Luckily, we're all in this together. Or at least we are until we get distracted when our phones go off with a notification saying we have a new Tinder match.

Great Book

This was a fun read. Very creative and fast paced. It was also very funny.

Great primer for PUA types. Not-so-much for conservative types!

If you’re going down the Pick Up Artist (PUA) path, there will be value in this book for you. If you’re the more serious, conservative, or Christian type, you probably won’t like it (although there will still be value for you to go through it to know what goes on). It didn’t get deep into psychology or advice, but I liked how it was authentic (or at least seemed like it was).

Narration was good, but not outstanding. It didn’t hold my complete attention, but I listened to it while stuck in bed and audiobooks hold my attention more while I’m driving.

Funny stories, not much substance

There are some hilarious stories within the book that makes for a very entertaining listen. However, there's not much in the way of advice or substance of that's what you're looking for.

Great book for all young adults

Reading this book is like having a casual conversation with your friends about casual sex. It's and inside look at how men and women actually feel about hookup and relationships.

Good 4 any age

Hits home if you have done any on line dating. Would be nice to follow up with an over 49 book because it’s much the same it would break many stereo types but also some twists.

Funny, even for a middle-aged dater

This was a very entertaining book. I know it's geared toward people in their 20s who are dating, but I found it to be quite interesting to me as I have just re-entered the dating scene at 41. I liked the insight into the app dating world and some of the stories were hilarious! Definitely recommend.

Reasons to choose celibacy

The stories are awful. I feel terrible for this generation having to find love this way, it’s demoralizing.

/r/AskReddit in an audio format with shock value

The authors acknowledge that at least two of the pieces are taken whole cloth from /r/AskReddit. Many of the other pieces bear all the signs with a combination of somewhat plausible stories and unbelievable anecdotes. Some of the details and stories are clearly included because they’re disgusting and have shock value.

There was a really good piece about ghosting and why we ghost people that really breaks down the absurdity of hookup culture. But suffering through the rest of the book is not worth this one gem. The narrators get five stars because they really bring the characters to life. The man in particular does an impeccable job of conveying all of the bro-iness of a 20-something navigating the modern world of casual sex.
