About this listen

It started innocently enough. Beautiful Harper gave Sean those eyes...those eyes that meant, yes, take me. But Harper didn’t know Sean’s secrets.... She didn’t know that he liked it rough.

More than rough. He liked to dominate. To punish. To degrade. It was the only way that the black hole in his soul wouldn’t swallow him up.

He would push her a little too far, and she would run. They all ran, eventually.

But that’s not what happened...when he put his hands around her throat and squeezed, Harper moaned. When he told her to stay away, she didn’t listen, misbehaving until she got spanked. When he took out the handcuffs, there was excitement in her eyes, mixed with a little fear.

The doe-eyed redhead liked it. More than that, she wanted it. She said so, time and again.

That’s the thing about sexy strangers, though...you never know what they’re hiding. And Harper is carrying a burden so heavy that even Sean’s secrets pale in comparison.

Contains mature themes.

Addiction

This book has a strong storyline, and it addresses the real issues of addiction and their struggles. The characters both are dealing with different addictions, and at different stages in their life. They complete each other so well, and I cannot wait to listen to book two for the conclusion of their story.

I really like this book,

I really like this book, right up until just before the end. I have a small problem with the very end of the book. I like that they treat the issues of the characters with respect and that they offer research Eating Disorders before writing about them and the BDSM lifestyle. I would usually have said that the drama and the main characters mine's was unnecessary or overly dramatic but in this case it is understandable. As a matter of fact she wrote the characters exactly as they should be and I appreciate that. However, at the end of the book something unrealistic happens and it is really aggravating.

*spoiler alert*

at the end of the book, the main characters best friend wakes up from his coma and an hour later the main characters lawyer is calling him on the phone telling him that his best friend is blaming him for everything having to do with the accident, and that the cops are going to come and he should be worried. There's no way that could have happened after a sustained coma, an hour after he woke up he wouldn't even be considered coherent or understanding anything that's happening. It would have been days or weeks before they would have allowed what he was saying to be considered legitimate and outside of the influence of drugs and mental trauma or brain damage depending on the assessments of the doctors. It's unrealistic, and that bothers me a lot. as much as the author respected all of the other things having to do with medical and or personal lifestyle choices I think she should have done the research on brain trauma and calm has also. she could easily have had the main character be in the room when his friend Woke up, had his friends blame him for the accident in some way and had him tailspin into alcoholism and get arrested for drunk and disorderly. It would have been more believable and just as acceptable. Other than that I love the story in the book and I am absolutely going to read the rest of it. Thank you.

I felt like I was going to class on eating disorders

I know the title of the book is Addiction but come on, I was just zoning out every time it went on and on about the different types of eating disorders and listening to her nonstop internal dialogue about binging, throwing up, exercise, counting calories blah blah blah. I only had like 20 minutes left but I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Story can be relatable

This is the first book I've read/listened to that is actually relatable. You've got the MMC who is a recovering alcoholic but not even a year into it. And the FMC has a severe eating disorder that she doesn't see yet. Its not about a Billionaire or Mafia group that has unlimited money or can get away with anything. So the realness is very nice!! The FMC is also an actual adult at 25!

Contains: BDSM elements with power exchange however its current book works more with the D/s side, addiction recovery, eating disorders, M/F
