About this listen

In the final volume of Anne Rice's erotic trilogy, Beauty's adventures on the dark side of sexuality make her the bound captive of an Eastern Sultan and a prisoner in the exotic confines of the harem. As this voloptuous adult fairy tale moves toward conclusion, all of Beauty's encouters with myriad variations of sexual fantasy are presented in a sensuous, rich prose that intensifies this exquisite rendition of Love's secret world and makes the Beauty series an incomparable study of erotica. In it, Anne Rice makes the forbidden side of passion a doorway into the hidden regions of the psyche and the heart.

This will continue to be as descriptive and sensual as the last book. It was very nice that they changed it up to keep your interest, by letting them travel to an unknown land with new unknown demands on them. It was nice to see them embrace it and conform to it. But most of all I was very happy to see that Sleeping Beauty found her true love.

I have always thought that Anne Rice was running out of steam by the time the she came to write Beauty's Release, the last of the three books that make up the erotic retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story. The language and situations get a little repetitive, and even the introduction of a new character and setting doesn't help all that much. Still, the story wraps up nicely and you get the feeling that all the characters get what they want, or in Beauty's case- deserve. As with "Beauty's Punishment" the narration is performed by two different readers, one male and one female. The woman does an excellent job with Beauty's chapters, but the man has a difficult time of it and his voice and diction are a definite distraction from the sensuality of the story. Of the three books, definitely my least favorite, but worth getting for a couple of good descriptive passages and just to find out what happens in the end.

Not the best.

Since this was my first real “erotica” read, I was surprised that the story overall, kept the listener engaged. Ann Rice is a great author and this trilogy demonstrates her ability to try different characters and styles of writing. Overall it was interesting and at times, humorous!

Worth the time

All of the books in this series are tastefully written. However the abridged version cut out almost half the story and some key parts.

Dont buy abridged it!

Couldn't wait to get into this one also. It was very hard to put down the audio book once it was started. I highly recommend it to any one who needs some romance and a little bit of "Naughty Time". This is one of those books that you don't want to listen to while you are needing to concentrate.

Wow! What a twist to a classic

Pulled up the Series page, big letters UNABRIDGED...bought the trio I already own in print version and 'guess what!' They are all ABRIDGED. This did not improve the books, SO DISAPPOINTED. The Printed books are MUCH better, these are kind of pathetic...

These are abridged! WHY???
