About this listen

The moment Francesca and Ian met, the attraction was mutual, an exquisitely physical charge that ignited between them. To Ian, she was the kind of woman he couldn't resist. She was a true innocent. To Francesca, he was the kind of man she feared and desired - dark, extreme, commanding, and forbidden. What happened between them couldn't be ignored - only indulged, evolving into an inescapable bond.

From a private jet to an interlude in Paris, from a daring tryst in a public museum to the intimacy of a luxury hotel, Francesca and Ian come together whenever the need is aroused. But as their relationship grows more intense, Francesca discovers something about Ian - and herself - that forever changes the game and the players. It's something they never expected, something that sends both their lives spinning deliriously out of control....

Interesting

This was definitely interesting book to listen. Although this was my first listen from Shirl Rae and I was bit disappointed in some areas. And definitely first book to listen from Beth Kery, will try another book in the series.

What happened to the rest of the story??

What made the experience of listening to Because You Are Mine the most enjoyable?

Brooding, wealthy business man with a troubled childhood meets lovely, awkward art student that creeps in under his skin and exposes his heart. Very FSOG...until the end. The story cut off so abruptly, it gave me whiplash. I hate that this book could have been epic if Ms. Kery had given us just a little more closure.

Very Very Good

I loved this book Ian and Francesca are two very stubborn people the one thing that was missing from this book was there were no crazy exes or people out for revenge the good things were that the sex scenes were hot. I can't wait to read the next one

The 50 Shades I Actually Wanted

Back when my naive little eyes read 50 Shades, I was drawn to erotica but lusting for decent writing. I wanted a plot - and, imagine!, proper grammar and punctuation.

This book satsifies those desires.

The narrator does a great job with characters and expression. She is lively and compelling. i truly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to hear more of their story.

Good Story about a really dominate man

Very good dom and sub story. Beth Kery does the dom and sub thing really well without stating the dom and sub thing clearly. I like that. Kery actually write a story with a plot and drama without all the dom and sub thing over shadowing the story.

Fran painted Ian a long time ago without knowing who he was while he was walking down the street. He of course is a billionare and he buys the painting, and hire her to paint another one. He tell her about the other painting and thier relationship starts from there. That really don't do it justice, but that is pretty much the jist. Ian is very dom because his mom was crazy and he had to take care of her, and Fran is a natural born sub, but she don't realize this because her parents are very controling.

I love this story. If you have listen to a Kery book before, you already know the smex is just great... so expect that... but the plot is just a wonderful.

Narration was awesome.

Good buy or credit.

I truly enjoyed this book but that ending was odd.

I don't understand how a book almost 12 hours long has such an abrupt ending with no epilogue whatsoever and in the middle of a conversation. This is the kind of thing romance readers get pissed about and for good reason. After plunging so much time into listening and getting attached to characters, to have them ripped away with no real ending was just cruel. I'm not sure if this is a series, I will check, but if it is I can at least understand to some extent why it didn't feel finished. If not, I'll be incredulous at what the author was thinking. Anyway, on to other matters: the back and forth in this book was both irritating and interesting. Ian's complexities and Francesca's insecurities were unique yet at times exasperating. You wanted them both to just realize what was happening and get over it. That stubbornness that they both shared gave them more depth but also got confusing stones. Their emotions got so tangled up and confusing that at some points I didn't understand why they were not speaking or mad at one another. For example, the whole "9h you're running away from me but" Francesca did the first time Ian went to London. That scene and others felt a little disjointed. I wish u could explain it better but therein lies the issue, explaining things appropriately. Also, the narrator's performance was amazing for Francesca, although Ian's voice was odd at first. I didn't know what to make of this weird accent she was giving him and a little irritating trying to ascertain what in the world was going on with her, if she just didn't so a good job or what. Then it all sort of fell into place as we learned about Ian's history between three different countries throughout his life and the effect it had on his speech. I have to say, I absolutely loved Ian's character but he had a lot more growing to do at the end, as did Francesca. I truly hope this story continues on and that this isn't the end, because I really loved it despite my complaints here. These things were a little bothersome but not even close to being enough to tell someone not to read the book. All the good is outweighed by the bad. The light BDSM scenes were smoking hot and sexy as hell. My one complaint there js that Ian hasn't truly been the Dom he could be and a Dom knows the importance of after are. His countless crass remarks and walking out on her after the fact was frustrating and I wondered if it was done intentionally to show him keeping his distance or if the author just didn't know or think about the importance of aftercare after those intense scenes. Either way, this book was excellent and I do love this author. I read one other book of hers and the ending seemed similarly abrupt but not to this degree. I really hope to be able to hear more if Ian and Francesca's journey together.

Edit: I have checked and I now see that this is indeed a series. Please disregard my outrage at the lack of ending, it seems I'll get my wish and hear more of this story.

Silly, easily forgotten

Let’s see:
- The narrator should stay away from accents and men’s voices, she can’t do either.
- The author should do just a little bit of research before sitting down to write a book, vehicles in continental Europe drive on the same side of the road as North American vehicles.
- The story? Well a damaged billionaire instantly falls for a naive 24y.o. virgin....original! One reviewer complained about the Francesca’s childish behaviour, it’s hard to argue with that observation, she was ridiculous. That was balanced by Ian’s insensitive, boorish, completely selfish behaviour. The characters are two dimensional, caricatures of real people displaying extreme emotions.
- It was ok, lightweight, silly for much of the time but listening at 2x speed made it tolerable. I doubt I will listen to the rest of the series though.

This is a series!!!

Had I known this was a series I might have waited, but I wanted others to know. The next book will focus on two other people, one of which was mentioned in this book, so this is a mostly complete story...so that's good at least!

I have mixed feelings about this book, for about 20% of it I felt ticked at the blatant rip off of 50. I hate it when people say that about a book, oh so and so ripped off this other book, and usually it had a similar tone but not a blatant whole scene rip off. See if these sound familiar to you "he put my coat on and his fingers brushed my shoulders as I felt and electric jolt"...."I already transferred the funds to your account. How do you know my account number?", "I'm not the man for you Anastasia"... Whoops sorry meant "francheska"! That's a totally different name! "I usually require that be shaved but I like yours"....and of course the "your 23 how is this possible, why didn't you tell me?" Hopefully all of that was vague enough to not be considered spoilers, but you get my point.

For the other 80% it was wonderful! Totally different story line, good characters, no one is truly broken just a bit damaged, which was nice. The hot scenes were amazing and not like 50, they were better in my opinion! New toys, new fun, different attitudes, very nice book....for that 80%. Would have gotten 5 stars if not for that other 20%!

Narration was okay...Ian's voice was kind of weird but inflections were good and so was the pace. If you can get past the blatant 50 rip off parts it's really good.
