About this listen

Thea Quinn has no idea what she is. All she knows is that her abilities have been a plague upon her life since she was a child. After years of suffering at the hands of a megalomaniac, Thea escaped and has been on the run ever since.

The leadership and protection of his pack are of the utmost importance to Conall MacLennan, Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan, the last werewolf pack in Scotland. Which is why watching his sister slowly die of a lycanthropic disease is emotional torture. When Conall is approached by a businessman who offers a cure for his sister in exchange for the use of Conall's rare tracking ability, Conall forges an unbreakable contract with him. He has to find and retrieve the key to the cure: dangerous murderer Thea Quinn.

Thea's attempts to evade the ruthless werewolf are not only thwarted by the Alpha but by outside dangers. With no choice but to rely on one another for survival, truths are revealed, intensifying a passionate connection they both fight to resist. At war with themselves and each other, Conall and Thea's journey to Scotland forces them to face a heartrending choice between love and betrayal.

Everything about this book was good. It was well paced and had a good storyline to it.

Amazing narrator

The narrator was amazing. Her accent was beautiful and while I’m slightly disappointed we didn’t get a male narrator for the MMC POV, she did a wonderful job narrating the whole book.

A few chapters in and I realized I’ve actually read this book years back but, again, the narrator was so good that I continued listening.

Story-
I do enjoy this story and world building but the fight/climax with the bad guy was underwhelming. I just don’t like how anticlimactic the resolution was and I hate hate hate that she had to become less than she to live. I feel like that was stripped from her before she truly got to experience and enjoy the powers she was born with. There was an alternative path to both of them becoming true immortals and living together and maybe that’s explored more in the other books with other characters, but I still hate that she became “less.”

Amazing narrator

I’ve read a ton of paranormal romance stories, but S. Young outdid any of my past experience with paranormal stories! Thea and Conall’s enemies to lovers story transcends the evil obsession of her adopted father and overcomes the dangers in their path, betrayal, and deceit. Conall and Thea’s relationship was passionate, and honest. Their connection with one another was solidified by the truths they discovered about one another and the outside dangers they had to overcome. Mhairi Morrison was a new narrator to me. Her performance was okay, slow at times but easy to listen to.

Love and betrayal!

I really enjoyed this story & want more! Would love to see the next part of the series come to audio. The narrator did a great job with all the accents & the main characters are so interesting to get to know.

Loved it! More on audio please…

Absolutely loved it

I enjoyed this story and hope SY continues this type of book. I also enjoyed the narration, even though reviewers here are seemingly unhappy I found it more realistic than some of the other narrators of Samantha Young’s writings.

Worthy of a credit

Thea's journey was amazing 👏 how to grow into her own self. becoming her own confident. and bonus of their first denial for each other to a very passionate and deep love.

Loved it!

Overall I'd give this book 3.75 stars

It was a slow burn which I didn't mind but the story at times lost my attention. Could be the narrator though and not the story. I don't want to say more to avoid spoiling since a big secret is what Thia is.

Narration was 3 stars and that is generous.

I really hope she picks a different narrator for book 2. I loved her narrator for On Dublin St. I could hear this narrator swallow and take breaths and it was really distracting. Had I not received this as a gift from a family memeber I would have returned it after the first few chapters. Her male voices sound way too feminine and almost the same as the female main character she was voicing.

I hate leaving negative reviews but please please choose a different narrator for the rest of the series.
