What's with the porn?

So, I very much enjoyed the story about 75% of the time but, what's with the porn stories!?! I want to follow the characters and cheer them on but I can not listen freely to this book. Why? Sex out of no where. On a trip with family we were listening and bam! I turned it off. I very much like suspense and crime solving audiobooks but this author is trying to sell her book with erotic sex.

Intense

Engaging story. It was intense and fast moving, until the last hour. The last hour moved so slow in comparison. Not a big fan of the narration, inflection was a bit off putting. I will look for other stories from this author but reading will depend on the narrator.

OMG!

WTH! My first & last impression is that Rob Winters' needed 'killin'. His death should have been slow & torturous. And the cops he worked with & that enabled him should have been locked up for a few years with the people they put in jail. They were responsible for every person that was beaten, threatened or killed after Mary Grace/Caroline took out that worthless restraining order & then 'accidentally' fell down the basement steps. Mary Grace/Caroline after years of abuse finally runs. Before during & after her flight, Rob (Mary Graces' husband) ran around threatening abusing & killing anybody (nurses, doctors, lawyers, teachers) who suspected that he was a abusive piece of crap. The supposed COPS he worked with helped him by ignoring obvious signs , warning him when he was under investigation, destroying evidence. Also ,I know it's nobody's job to regulate a coworker's social behavior ,but, it also isn't their place to blame his abused wife because Rob was screwing anything with a hole. A blind man could have seen the abuse in the Winters family & yet the people trained to recognize the signs 'failed' to see it or ignored it.Nine years later & Caroline/ Mary Grace & her now 14 year old son are semi- happy in their new lives & the poo poo is about to hit the fan, because Caroline has found a 'good' man , her distrustful son isn't liking it & her abusive demented murderous husband is on their trail. The psycho has been abusing & killing more people for nine years, when his car is found at the bottom of a lake with no bodies in it. So now he's on the hunt & you just know more people are going to be hurt & or killed in his quest to find his primary punching bags.I say primary because he also knocks the hell out of his current girlfriend & most suspects he comes in contact with ( brutally killing one person, who was slow in telling him what he wanted to know). Oh yeah he's also a racist. Nice cop huh? The psycho used wigs, masks, makeup, his badge, fear & subterfuge (even with children) to gather information to find & re-terrorize his wayward family.I almost had to give up on this because it made me so mad, When he took that baby out of that car & used it to get the mother to tell him where Mary Grace & her son went & then what he did afterwards- I wanted to kill him myself. .I didn't think I could take 15+ hours of it. This book blew the myths of Protect & Serve , Law & Order and Justice for All, straight to hell. It also skirted around the effects being abused & watching your mother be abused has on a son. Mary Grace/Caroline's husband-Robby/Tom's father is a disrespectful ,brutal, psychotic ,misogynistic, homicidal, racist, demon seed, son of a b***h with absolutely no redeeming qualities what so ever. The number of people that this man was allowed to threaten, abuse & murder was ridiculous & No!, he doesn't get a pass because he might have been abused as a child or he's supposed to be a cop. If the authors' intention was to make the reader despise this man- IT WORKED.

Fantastic thriller

First, Michael Ferraiuolo as narrator is better than perfect! I don’t think I would have enjoyed the story as much were it not for his narration. This book was fantastic. What a creepy villain. This was filled with excitement and anxiety and I couldn’t stop listening. Absolutely worth the credit.

Don't Tell

Don’t Tell by Karen Rose, which is set in the city of Chicago, is book one in her Romantic Suspense series. This is my first foray into Rose’s world and it will not be my last. I cannot believe I waited so long to read her work.

While reading it reminded me of the movie Sleeping with the Enemy to some degree, however this story went deeper than plot of that movie.

We meet Mary Grace Winters, who now goes by the name Caroline Stewart. She assumed this identity nine years ago when she faked her death along with that of her son to escape her abusive husband. She has made a new life for herself and her son. I had no difficulty connecting with her. The best words I could describe her are strong, stubborn, kind, scared, courageous and fragile. Strong because of her courage to escape a monster and fragile because the memories had the power to break her.

Max Hunter, Caroline’s new boss and love interest intrigued me from the moment he was introduced. The story dug into his past and the revelations were heart wrenching, but it was no match for what Caroline went through. He made his share of mistakes with Caroline, but he demonstrated that he was the man she needed to show her that love has the power to heal. Two broken souls who proved to be the perfect match.

The secondary characters were on par with the primary ones. From the agent in charge of investigating Mary Grace’s disappearance to her sadistic abusive husband who is hunting her. That man is one sick bastard. The things he did was enough to make anyone cringe. What made even more dangerous was the fact he swore to serve and protect.

Readers knows the identity of the villain from the outset so there was no mystery. His agenda was clear. However, the paths the author traversed were edgy, gritty and thrilling. She had me reading/listening intently as I was eager to learn how things would fare out for Caroline. I feared for Caroline and all who encountered the sadist.

Narration
As this is my first time listening to Michael Ferraiuolo, I did not know what to expect. I am pleased to say he did a great job. He had a huge cast of characters, varying emotions working with and he handled it quite well. I had no difficulty figuring the voices as he spoke distinctly. I would listen to more of his work.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Overall, I had a great time with this story and cannot wait to jump back into the world that the author has so magnificently
created. Fans of romantic suspense would love this book.

Riviting Romantic Suspence

This is an engaging story with characters you can't help but love. Except for the villain. He's a nasty piece of work. The story will keep you at the edge of your seat with the suspense. Yet it will also tug at you'd heart with the wonderful friendships, and caring families.

The narrator

The narrator was awful. Was he supposed to be British or American? Did anyone else catch the slip of bad accents? It made it hard to listen to. A woman would have done this justice.

Excellent Narrator

This wasn’t my favorite Karen Rose book, but I enjoyed it. I’m extremely picky about narrators, and I can tell you that Michael Ferraiuolo does an excellent job with this book. I almost skipped it because of other reviewers saying how bad his female voices were, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’ll read more Karen Rose books, and I’ll definitely seek out Michael Ferraiuolo as a narrator.

Another Really Good Thriller

Karen Rose is one of the best for thrillers. All of her books that I’ve listened to are books I can’t put down. She is a good about keeping you on the edge through most of her story. Some times she adds a little romance but it doesn’t take away from the story.
