About this listen

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs. But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate, but he's also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me; my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Contains mature themes.

DNF

I said I wasn’t going to listen to another book by this male narrator, but I went back on that...and it was a mistake. Damn - do the producers of these books not listen, or at least sample, these before releasing them? His voices or the male friends sounded RIDICULOUS - like sponge bob or something equally cartoonish. Surprising, Tucker’s voice was ok until it got to sexy scenes and it becomes so cheesy stupid. The female narrator’s male voices were MUCH better than the male’s. They could have saved money by going with one narrator. I do wish they would pay more attention to male narration because it can RUIN a book.

Great story, bad narration

If you’ve ever wondered what an audiobook sounded like as narrated by Beavis and Butthead, here ya go. Honestly I love the story and I only listened to it rather than reading because I was driving. The female narrator is great and her voices are just fine, but the male narrator voice...oof. Maybe read this one, but if you can’t read it like me, just laugh your way through the male narration like I did and thank your lucky stars he doesn’t narrate the sex scenes!

SO GOOD!

I normally don’t leave reviews on books, but this one was so good that I had to say something. The story was cute, but the characters were so funny. I literally laughed out loud so much during this book because of the playful banter between friends (Racer is the best!). I wasn’t huge on the narrators at first, but they grow on you. They’re very detailed and descriptive, and they really “act out” their lines, which made the book more enjoyable for me.

Horrible Male Narrator

His regular voice was fine but the voice he made for the other characters was awful. Love Meghan Quinn books but almost couldn’t finish listening to this one.

The good & the bad…

There were things I liked about this story and things I definitely disliked.
Surprisingly (because I am hard to please where stories are concerned), I thought Emma was a really well written main female character. She did have her flaws and there were times I wished she would’ve walked away from Tucker given all those red flags he was waving, but she was strong minded and had a unique personality/sense of humor. I also appreciated how MQ painted a clear picture of how Tucker was attracted to Emma just being herself. Their relationship progressed seamlessly and naturally. That being said, Tucker brought up or thought about his ex (Sadie) waaaaaaaaay too much. The inner dialogue especially made it feel like Emma was the runner-up in this story. Yes, he was attracted to Emma, but it was on repeat that his heart was broken by the love of his life (Sadie). That made it difficult to believe his feelings for Emma meant anything to him. Even at about 85% into the story, Tucker is still “concerned” he can’t move past his relationship/breakup with Sadie. It was too much and too many things had gone on between these characters for Tucker to be thinking about his ex…all the time. If this had been about the OTHER upsetting aspect of his relationship with Sadie - and not actually Sadie herself - that needed to be written more clearly. Cuz it wasn’t.
*slight spoiler below - nothing crazy*
The reconciliation due to the “angst” at the end of the story also was a major fail for me. I was waiting for this epically great moment where all of the times Tucker mentioned Sadie to no longer matter. ::Crickets:: He was so incredibly indecisive for the entire story, so forgive me when I say that using your friends…to deliver letters… because you left town without a word…after saying some bs about the woman you “love”…to the ex you maybe can’t get over? Yikes. I actually laughed when I realized how this would play out. He ran…to “sort out” his feelings? and then Racer had to remind him to talk to Emma because it wasn’t ok he hasn’t contacted her? It was that moment I felt like I wasted my time on this book and wanted my credit back.
It felt like MQ didn’t know how to end this book in a stronger way. Not sure these characters would make it IRL without some serious issues between them.
Idk. I liked a lot of how this was written (mostly the Emma character), but if the ending doesn’t make sense given what has happened, I can’t get onboard.
I have listened to all of MQ’s books on Audible (some of them more than once) and there are some that are incredible. I can’t say this is one of them.

Female narration was really good.
Male narrator was ok while voicing Tucker, but his voice for Emma was bad. He made her sound like an idiot.

Could not finish

I couldn't finish this book. It wasn't the story itself that I lost patience with, it was the narrators. The female narrator was OK and probably could have done the whole book with all the right voices. I could not get past the male narrator and his imitation of female voices...it grated on my last nerve. At that point I stopped. I don't even think I made it half way through.

Meghan Quinn is great

Meghan Quinn is the absolute best; however the voice actors did nothing to add to the story.

Great story. Love Meghan Quinn.

Male narrator was awful. His narration for his own character was good but his other voices were ear piercingly terrible. Almost had to stop he bugged me so much.
