About this listen

Eight weeks of forced proximity is a long time to hate someone you’re trying not to love.

Sebastian Stremmel doesn’t need another headache. He has enough of his own without Sara Shapiro, the noisy new reconstructive surgeon, stomping all around his surgical wing with her chippy, chirpy cheerfulness.

But Sebastian doesn’t usually get what he wants.

No one gets under his skin like Sara - so much so a heated “debate” and an exam room left in shambles later, they land themselves in eight weeks of hospital-mandated conflict resolution counseling. Now they’re forced to fight fair…which quickly leads them to playing dirty when no one’s looking.

They know it’s a mistake.

They promise themselves it will never happen again.

They swear they got it out of their systems.

They didn’t.

Author’s Note: Grumpy/recovering people-pleaser sunshine. Introverts attract. Enemies-to-lovers in the workplace. Banter, bicker, and button-pushing foreplay. Don’t tell the friend group, get jealous when the friend group tries to fix her up.

Heat: rip her clothes off before you get the front door open.
CW/TW: chronic illness, absent/negligent parents, history of disordered eating.

The Worst Guy is hate to love, but Sebastian never hated Sarah. Both had a lot of trauma to work through, and both are older, well established surgeons working in Boston. They had to work through their issues in conflict resolution, which caused them to throw toys at each other. Parts of it were childish, but the way the author handled the trauma that both Sebastian and Sarah had. The romance was good. TW: talk of eating disorder, toxic/abusive parents

Loved this hate to lovers romance! ❤️ Their banter is ridiculous at times, but in the funny way and 🥵 so hot! Really enjoyed their relationship growth and the narrators.

I think this is my favorite book by this author. The banter was on point, and lasted throughout the book, even during the smexy scenes, which I rarely see. There were some emotional moments, and serious topics addressed, but overall, it was a light-hearted Enemies to Lovers book that I really enjoyed. I listened to the audio, and it was great too.

The Worst Guy really turned out to be not the worst. I felt the struggles and connection of these characters and the way he loved her first was just the sweetest. Kate did an amazing job making these characters relatable and taking about baggage and past trauma so eloquently. They were really well developed. The banter in this book was so great!

Connor and Natalie fit these characters so well, both did a fantastic job bringing these broken characters to life. Their delivery was superb, and I highly recommend this read.

The worst guy isnt so bad afterall....

I really wish they would do the dialogue with both actors. It’s really hard sometimes to stay in the story when the actress does both male and female voices during their point of view then the male does both during their chapter. I did not enjoy the actress’ male voice.

Fun and biting banter

Fans of Kate Caterbary have seen Sebatian Stremmel in her other books. I've been waiting a long time for this grump's book. It was worth the wait. This is a stand-alone book, so don't worry if this is your first by the author. I haven't read such an explosive enemies to lovers book in a long time. The sexual tension between Sebastian and fellow doctor Sara Shapiro is amazing. After getting into a big argument at work, they are forced to do counselling together. The results are hilarious and hot.

The narrators, Natalie Duke and Connor Crais are great. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this book when it first started but Connor Crais is one of my favorites so I kept listening… the story line dragged me in and I found myself enthralled by the relationship between the characters and the raw way in which Sarah’s struggles with ED and anxiety were detailed.

Connor Crais A+
