Good advice, helpful exercises.

I like this book. As someone who has struggled with conversation in the past, I'm familiar with some of the issues mentioned in the book. I love the exercises and suggestions for overcoming fears, and how the author approaches this as a series of small victories to be won, rather than an Olympic venture.

Amazing!

There are other books on small talk but this one is particularly worthy of attention on two grounds. First, it's particularly explicit about dos and don'ts, with crystalline examples. And those tips are aimed at average people--you won't be intimidated. The book's second core differentiator it's focus on the quality of your voice which, alas, can make as much difference as what you say.

Very practical.

I’ve found this book to be helpful in my own communication journey. Since I started this book a few weeks ago I’ve noticed improvement in my social interactions. I especially thought the tip about recording was helpful. Some advice I would give to anyone listening this book is to record yourself practicing these techniques.

Both good advice and good exercises to learn!

15 Social Practices of Saying the Right Thing in any Situation offers a lot of good advice with many examples. I liked how easy it was and understand how to help open up a little more in social situations. I am somewhat shy but mostly I was looking for a book to help me at larger gatherings. I do well talking one on one with people but can be overwhelmed in social gatherings with a bunch of people This book has exercises to help get your mind in the right place to better handle situations through mindfulness exercises. Then there are the practice exercises and the exercises to help let go of the fears you have. I found all of these to be helpful. I also liked his examples as they seemed true to life. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to improve their social communications no matter whether they are at work or at a party.
