A return to the world of Samantha Shannon's Sunday Times and New York Times-bestselling The Priory of the Orange Tree
____________________

Tunuva Melim is a sister of the Priory. For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms – but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation is starting to question the Priory's purpose.

To the north, in the Queendom of Inys, Sabran the Ambitious has married the new King of Hróth, narrowly saving both realms from ruin. Their daughter, Glorian, trails in their shadow – exactly where she wants to be.

The dragons of the East have slept for centuries. Dumai has spent her life in a Seiikinese mountain temple, trying to wake the gods from their long slumber. Now someone from her mother's past is coming to upend her fate.

When the Dreadmount erupts, bringing with it an age of terror and violence, these women must find the strength to protect humankind from a devastating threat.

Intricate and epic, A Day of Fallen Night sweeps listeners back to the world of A Priory of the Orange Tree, showing us a course of events that shaped it for generations to come.

I loved this so much, it is just such a wonderfully solid and beautiful story. The narrators really added an extra dimension of epic.

Absolutely stunning story and performance

An easy engaging listen, though it took a while for the story to pull me in.

Nice

I got maybe an hour in but just couldn't do it ... one of the narrators kept putting me to sleep, her voice is perfect for sleeptime aps but I had no idea how the story of her characters were progressing because for the life of me I couldn't keep interested in her voice

It was soothing to the point of boring/sleep ... sorry I'm sure she's a lovely human :(

Had to return this book but I am reading Book 1 of this series and think it's great!

I think it could have been a good book

Enjoyed the interview in the end. Didn’t expect it. Had a great time with the book, the audiobook, the characters, the readers, and the author. Thanks!

Fantastic book. Great reading.

The author leveled up her storytelling art and the audiobook direction did as well. The use of multiple of voice actors enhanced the multiple perspectives and moods across the domain of the novel.

While the author is not interested in and probably won't improve her grasp of military battles... everything else is well done. Her facility to flesh out as many disparate major and minor characters is to be applauded. Her capacity to keep a story as long as this one engaging especially when the outcome is already known is also exceptional.

I hope these continue to improve as it's wonderful to have a feminist, sapphic fantasy author that can weave a very long tale.

Much improved audio

the background and lore are interesting, but the characters are very difficult to engage with and the pacing is inconsistent

disappointing
