Monster king, monster king, where are you?
Your house is burning down.
Monster king, monster king, won't you play?
The Red Swan wants your crown.

The charismatic Great Harlequin, Duruthiel, leads his troupe on a daring raid of an ork settlement. Urging them forth with bold eccentricity, the Red Swan proclaims fate as the guiding hand for the Masque of the Fading Dawn. But as Skyweaver jetbikes invade the night skies, his attempts to overthrow the great warlord become increasingly reckless. It soon becomes apparent that this is more than just another performance for Duruthiel but a battle for honour and freedom.

A fully emerging tale of the Harlequins.

Just more than an hour and this short story made me fall in love with the Harlequins, their attitude, how they make battle a stage, and the fight is their performance. Love it to bits.

Fun Short Story

It’s a fun story that is different from typical space marine banter. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys the world of 40k.

Super fun also quite battle heavy

Just really exciting to have Harlequins featured. Pretty short but that’s not a bad thing. Definitely battle heavy but thematic and really captures the lore of the harlequins - overall cool quick story.

Very Entertaining

This is a great listen, the dialogue is particularly good with comedy sprinkled in. I loved listening to the way the Harlequin’s talked, in true Shakespearean fashion. Literally the famous line “What light from yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!” Becomes “What light from yonder gateway breaks? It is the void, and the King is my sun!” 5/5

Good Story

The actors and the story are great, but background music/effects at times makes listening to the story difficult.

Great little Harlequin story

It's rare to see xenos get a win in 40k stories, and this was a refreshing break from the norm. I really enjoyed the characterization of the Harlequins in this, and the Great Harlequin especially felt really on-brand.

Worthwhile Listen for any Warhammer Fan

This is the first Black Library entry to feature the enigmatic Eldar Harlequins as main characters, and it's hard to imagine a better introduction. It's a fascinating and fast paced look into an intriguing faction. I found myself drawn in, especially by the unique banter between the main characters, and wanting to learn more. Overall a well-acted, high quality production full of action, dynamic characters, with interesting and amusing dialogue. I hope BL continues this series, because I'll be sure to pick them up as soon as possible.

Murder Clowns!

Good story and even better voice acting!

Plot is simple but well written characters and the fact that all is very much according to 40k fluff makes up for it.

Must listen for all Eldar/Harlequin fans.
