About this listen

A secret backdoor meeting between Ambassador Ode Abumwe and the Conclave’s Hafte Sorvalh turns out to be less than secret, as both of their ships are attacked. It’s a surprise to both teams - but it’s the identity of the attacker that is the real surprise, and suggests a threat to both humanity and The Conclave.

"A Problem of Proportion" is a tale from John Scalzi's The Human Division, a series of self-contained but interrelated short stories set in the Old Man's War universe.

One of the best.

So a quick review for this one.. don't wanna spoil things, in this book you get much bigger teamwork, and a bigger understanding of whats going on. and you get a sad story in this one... which is a change, you got an episode where they saved a dog, but this one doesn't have that happy ending.. Thats why i liked it.

come on next book!!!!

Heartwarming

Once again, the Colonial Union’s backup diplomats end up being in a critical place at the wrong time, uncovering a plot that appears to be trying to push the Colonial Union and the Conclave into war. That was fine as far as it goes, but the real heart of this story is Wilson trying to save a man whose brain has been removed from his body and wired into a killer starship. It was genuinely heartwarming.

Well Written

As with most of the short stories in this saga, it is well written and well narrated. A good listen.

So sad

A good entry into the series, but a sad one :( All the usual characters with some amusing alien 'grunts' thrown into the mix.

A Scalzi Twist on a Sci-fi Theme

Another good episode from John Scalzi's "Human Division", chock full of the wit and humor that makes his series so popular and enjoyable. Although the issues in this volume are ones that have been covered in sci-fi before, Scalzi's delivery is very much his own.

The Mystery deepens

Any additional comments?

This episode was excellent, the only problem is its length. Its too short, it whets or arouses the appetite and makes you want for more and more. I suspect that the next and last episode will be a few hours in length.

An interesting universe

Would you consider the audio edition of A Problem of Proportion to be better than the print version?

Well read. I am am starting to get used to character voices now.

Any additional comments?

Having the episode number clearly visible in the title would be very useful

Love Scalzi, but this is getting repetitious

another take on a brain in the box. nothing new, nothing different. feels like John is attempting to extract more $$ from me.
