About this listen

Halloween: it’s a holiday where people shed their boring everyday personalities and become fantastic beings ready for an epic party. Well, guess what? That’s Billy Boston 24/7, 365, baby! It’s who I was before I became a millionaire and it’s who I’ll always be.

My beautiful next door neighbor, Donna, is a hardworking nurse who takes her job seriously and her fun even more so. All she wants is a no-strings arrangement and that’s fine by me. It’s Halloween for us every time we’re together because she likes to role play. There’s no way to get attached if we’re both pretending to be someone else, right?

It’s all smooth as a good whiskey until my married cousins bet me that I can’t get a serious girlfriend by November.

So, Donna and I make a deal: She’ll help fix me up to be a proper boyfriend and I’ll help fix up the farmhouse she inherited.

The one she thinks is haunted.

And that’s not the scary part.

Because I realize I’m falling wicked hard for Donna. For real. She’s spooked by the ghost, but I’m afraid I’ll spook her if I tell her how I really feel. We made a pact when we started this no-strings thing: If either of us gets serious, we have to end it.

I have to trick Donna into thinking she’s teaching me how to date, when really I’m treating her to dates with me.

But if I screw this up, I’ll lose the woman I’m in love with.

And that’ll haunt me forever.

Give Me ALL of the Strings!

Kayley Loring and Connor Crais have done it again! With A Very No Strings Halloween, they have given us the epitome of everything you could want from an amazing (or wicked awesome) romcom!! Of course we have their clever and quick-witted banter and laugh out loud style of writing that we all know and love but also the SWOON!! Oh my the swoon! With what started as a fun, role-playing friends with benefits situationship turning into the sweetest HEA for our Billy Boston? Please. It was written perfectly and is everything Billy and Donna deserve and we, the listeners, appreciate!

Let’s Talk Narration! As the main male narrator for the series thus far and the title of a Very Holiday co-writer on a couple of the titles as well, nobody knows Billy Boston better than Connor Crais himself and he was absolutely everything I’d expect Billy to be. Funny, charming, genuine and sincere and of course… the Boston accent!! Nobody can pull together several different characters and accents quite like Connor can so to have all of them making an appearance in one book is so fun to hear!! Connor’s performance was wicked friggin’ awesome and something you truly need to hear for yourself!

And of course saving the best for last, Emma Wilder as Donna Fischer, the one who tamed our Billy down! It’s actually quite difficult to just choose one or two words about Emma’s performance as she was SO MANY things! Of course she was so sweet and charming as Donna but also so kind, so witty and she, too, brought out the best Boston accents! Most importantly Emma as Donna was everything we want for Billy. A person to balance him out, a person who, while opposite in overall personality, doesn’t try to change him and lets him be Billy Boston all the while keeping that calm, smooth voice that could melt buttah!

The whole Very Holiday series is a 5 star must listen but there is truly just something so special about A Very No Strings Halloween and the combined performance of Connor and Emma….it’ll make you laugh, make you swoon and it will most definitely leave you so happy that you gave it a listen!

Couldn't expect anything less from Billy Boston!

You know when there's that favorite character in a series but you are not really sure how his own story would be? That was Billy Boston for me. Why? Because he's wicked awesome! But so are Kayley and Connor and they came up with a fun, Halloween-y, a teeny bit spooky, fantastic story for the larger than life Billy. They gave him the perfect match in Donna, his neighbor, with whom he finds himself in a "situationship" with zero strings attached. Oh, we all knew that Billy and his big heart would fall hard and he did!

I loved everything about this book but here's what I loved most:

Donna and her full acceptance of Billy.

Billy and his humble "I know a guy" take on life.

Piper and her short (but important) appearance and her touching epilogue.

The ghosts! They gave the Halloween vibe to the book and tied the story perfectly!

The appearance of all the cousins throughout the story because I love these characters so much!

The role playing... ah the role playing....

A true and swoony "he falls first"... and hard.

The chapter names!

The hilarious moments that Kayley and Connor always provide.

The audiobook is narrated duet style by Connor (reading his own words written with Kayley) and Emma Wilder and It's amazing! Connor has been embodying these characters for a while and he wows you with all the accents and how distinct all the characters are in his performance. They couldn't find a better Donna in Emma Wilder. She's amazing! I almost feel bad that this is duet narration because we don't get to experience her amazing male voices. A must listen!

If you are looking for a lighthearted, spooky read, give Billy and Donna a chance. You'll love them like I did!

Wicked Awesome Duet-Style Narration!

Wicked Awesome! A Very No Strings Halloween by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais was a laugh-out-loud, swoony romcom that had me absolutely smitten from start to finish. I’d been anticipating Billy’s romance for quite some time, and Kayley and Connor definitely delivered. Donna was the perfect match for Billy, and I could not have loved these two more.

Emma Wilder and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in duet-style narration, and these two embodied all things Donna and Billy. Emma’s vibrant, decadent voice encompassed all of Donna’s flirtiness, insecurities, and desires in her performance that made you long for her to find true happiness with Billy. Connor’s Boston accent was pure perfection homing in on Billy’s “I know a guy” mentality and his ability to provide and care for Donna. (Swoon) Plus, Emma and Connor were spot on with various accented side character voices that had me smiling throughout. The duet-style narration elevated the listening experience, and I couldn’t get enough of Donna and Billy!

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a Halloween-themed rom-com with a hot cocky millionaire, a red-headed feisty nurse, role play, bets, fixer-upper haunted houses, Boston Tomcats football games, ghosts, Piper and butts, drunken nights, steamy times, séances, Ouija boards, romantic realizations, stormy night confessions, and HEA that will haunt you in the best ways, then you will love Donna and Billy’s romance. I always look forward to more from Kayley and Connor.

Billy Boston

Nothing will put you in the Halloween spirit quite like inheriting a haunted house from a deceased patient. That is the situation Donna finds herself in. And the only person she can think of that may bring some levity to this spooky situation is the one and only Billy Boston. Billy, with his crazy shenanigans and devil may care attitude, is the best thing that Donna didn’t realize she needed in her life.
