About this listen

Emma Gavin writes best-selling novels about werewolves, but that doesn't mean she believes in them - and she certainly doesn't think she'll meet one. But that's exactly what happens when her books catch the attention of a rich and powerful pack of Manhattan Weres who have kept their existence hidden for centuries. Alarmed by the accuracy of her novels, they're determined to find out if a renegade is acting as her informant.

Aidan Wallace, the pack leader's son and heir, knows he's the wolf for the job, but when he gets close to Emma, they are both surprised by an attraction too strong to deny. To surrender to it, Aidan will have to risk everything -i ncluding the security of the pack he's sworn to protect.

An ok read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably not this book, I found it slow in the beginning and then rushed at the end.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

ending seemed a little rushed

Which character – as performed by Abby Craden – was your favorite?

hmmm not sure

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I kind of tuned out in parts

Any additional comments?

Although I wasn't captivated by this book I do love Vicki's "nerd" series so I thought I would give this one a try and I will probably try to read the others in this series just to see if they get better, but I think I will skip purchasing the audio and use my credits on other books.

Pretty Good

This book had great romance. The two main characters tried hard to not be with each other but their love could not be denied. BUT, the ending/ action was not very good. I was expecting so much more. The story had great potential but sadly went a little flat at the end. I wanted more from her. :( Still an okay book.

Super nauseous heroin. Too many badly written sex scenes. I like a nice light Romance this definitely is not exactly it.

A Domesticated Were?

I'm glad I didn't start the series with this first book. The books following this first one were all great, but unfortunately this story was lackluster.Emma(the main female character)was opinionated, bossy and whinny. If I were Aidan(the main Were character in this story)I would have happily settled for the packs pick as mate"Nadia".For an"alpha"male,he sure let Emma boss him around. Not one of her better books, but she sure got better with the rest of the series. They are really awesome.

An Alpha after my heart!

Would you listen to A Werewolf in Manhattan again? Why?

Yes. I love to read a book that ends up with an Alpha giving in to the unavoidable.

What about Abby Craden’s performance did you like?

I liked how she made the characters distinguishable. I knew when one ended and another began.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole book captivated me and made me look forward to the next book in the series.

LUKEWARM LISTEN

If you want a lighthearted cute listen that will carry you along with a sweet plot then this is your kinda book. It was an enjoyable listen, from the start the werewolf was already attracted to Emma (the author of romance books about, what she thought was fictional, werewolves) and he could 'smell' her attraction to him. It was a budding building romance of "he can't...." "he mustn't...." "he shouldn't of...." and finally "he's happy he did....". There was no real nasty baddies just a couple fighting their forbidden attraction to each other. However, I thought the ending seemed very rushed.

This wasn't a 'fast-forward' listen or a 'stop listening' book and I have already downloaded the other books in the series so I'll give them a try.

Really Struggled to Finish

overall it had a good story line just really drags and the narration leaves a lot to be desired the narrator sounds like a little girl so couldn't really get into the book

Fun, but doesn't have an ending

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It was mostly satisfying, and the tension between the leads was great. For someone looking for a no-substance read, this was well-written enough to warrant a recommendation.

If you’ve listened to books by Vicki Lewis Thompson before, how does this one compare?

This was my first

What does Abby Craden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice for Emma was a little over the top, but she brought life to the scenes and characters.

Do you think A Werewolf in Manhattan needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, because the major plot was left unresolved. As soon as the characters got together, the author decided no other resolution was needed.
