About this listen

Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle's body bears the telltale marks of a comarré - a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility. When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into the mortal world... and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now, Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has ever seen will threaten to reign.

Decent

I found this to be fairly decent. The narrator was pretty good the story was a bit weak but entertaining enough.

Action, Adventure and Romance! the ultimate bundle

great book! Loved the action and I love the characters! best vampire series I have ever read or listened to! I can't wait to hear more! Kristen wowed me again and again with every page! I am speechless when it comes to this series! I loved the action and the romance, the drama and the intrigue. Chrysabelle is the heroine to beat when it comes to storybook heroines as far as I am concerned. She can kick your ass and still be a lady when the occasion calls for it. She has style and class all the way! Malkolm is a great character brooding, mysterious and dark. He falls for Chrysabelle so hard he cant see it he just knows that they can't be in the same room together without wanting to kill eachother. Forced to work together to stop a common enemy Chrysabelle and Malkolm must put aside there differences and work together for the greater good of all the people they care about. will it prove to be to difficult for Malkolm? Chrysbelle knows there is something he isn't telling her, but does she want to know? are some secrets better left unsaid? Kristen Painter is a amazing writer and I am in love with her books! so if you haven't read these make sure you start now! cause you don't know what you are missing!

A Different Spin On Vampires

This is so much different than Kristen’s other work. She’s one of my favorite authors. I had read House Of The Rising Sun before this one and was told that that trilogy would be enjoyed even more, hard to get any better than it was, if I read this Comarre series first. They tie in together but don’t have to be read in order. This first book has a lot of telling but I feel like that is necessary because this is a big world so it needs that world building. I loved all the main characters. I really liked the uniqueness of Crysabell (spelling?) needing to be bled or have a vampire feed from her or she would be like blood drunk. It’s her purpose to feed her vampire.

If you like audiobooks, you would like this in audio form. The narrator does a wonderful job. I loved Doc’s voice. And the voice in Mal’s head.

Comarre' Not my cup of tea.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I love Kristen Painter's Nocture Falls series, but I just could not get into this story. I am sorry I just didn't finish it.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I can't say. Where I loved the characters from her Nocture Falls books, I just didn't fall in love with the characters in this book.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Abby Craden?

No opinion at this time.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Hmmm, probably not, but maybe.

Any additional comments?

I feel bad giving this review. I loved Kristen's Nocture Falls series - which I have listened to several times over each book. I guess maybe the idea of being just a food source, even if rich....just didn't appeal to me. Sorry Kristen.

THE NARRATION IS HORRENDOUS

What made the experience of listening to Blood Rights the most enjoyable?

THE STORY IS INTRIGING

What do you think your next listen will be?

ANSWER PLOT HOLES

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Abby Craden?

AMANDA RONCONI OR KRISTEN PAINTER - THE MOST AWESOME NARRATOR EVER!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NOT AT ALL

Any additional comments?

The story is not great but is okay to listen to while you are waiting or one of your series new book to come out. So if you are out of options this is okay, the story is intriguing but WAY too melodramatic and it is made worse by the narration... do you know when you read a book to a child and you OVER EXAGGERATE to make it silly? well thats exactly how this narration goes, I feel bad writing this, I do not mean to offend the narrator, maybe she was told to read the book this way, there were many times that I stopped listening because of the "soap opera" way the she was reading it, here is a good drinking game to make this book more enjoyable, grab a nice glass of wine and every time you listen to "I could not bare to..." take a sip... that is what I did half way on this book, do not get me wrong Im about to download the second book on this series, like I said the story IS intriguing.

save your money, NOT like any other K. Painter

so dark, miserable and twisted. I have loved of all the Kristen Painter books & series so I was very surprised to find I couldnt stomach this misery fest. 16 chapters in and it just gets harder to keep from gagging. the narraters strange monotone bemoaning isnt helping a really bad story. i tried, i really wanted to love it too, i just cant, yuk.
