About this listen

Jason logs into Awaken Online fed-up with reality. He's in desperate need of an escape, and this game is his ticket to finally feeling the type of power and freedom that are so sorely lacking in his real life.

Awaken Online is a brand new virtual reality game that just hit the market, promising an unprecedented level of immersion. Yet Jason quickly finds himself pushed down a path he didn't expect. In this game, he isn't the hero. There are no damsels to save. There are no bad guys to vanquish.

In fact, he might just be the villain.

Slow start, but awesome

The book starts slow and I'll be honest, the narrator at first grates on my ears. That said, if you stick with it through the first few chapters it's well worth it. the book is well written and makes you really feel the main characters perspective. I found myself grinning and laughing at several scenes not because they were necessarily funny but because they were awesome. I could see myself in the characters shoes and being overjoyed at what was going on. I'm not sure if the narration improved or if I just got used to it but after a few chapters even that didn't bother me. Overall, I highly recommend the book. It was great to see a story from the "villains" perspective. Excited to start the next book!

Great overall

Story was a bit awkward to get into. But a bit into the book i was pretty happy with how things were going.

I think the main characters rise to power was a bit rapid. Would have been better to see this books ending be more like a second book. So much power happening so quickly makes it seem invincible and leaves the growth a bit less room than I think would be preferred.

One of the best endings in LITRPG

This book starts off slow but has good detail that I personally related to. The ending of the book is so action packed it will leave you on the edge of your seat. Definitely a must listen when is comes to litrpg books.

Almost at the level of Ready Player One

Just a little less on the real world side. The game world is fascinating! 5 stars! The game AI is quite innovative!

New standard for LitRPG

This was beautifully done. I have read a lot of books from this genre and I have to give this author major props on writing this in a very gamer like fashion. Many authors forget this most obvious application of in game magic and try to be all cryptic and mysterious and mostly just fail and are majorly annoying. This guy just makes you think he didn't think about it and then bam. (Jerk). No need to list all the stats as well just the changes will do. It took me so long to pick it up and it's worth it. The MC the magic the game technology is all very well done and everything makes sense. Just read it and you won't regret.

Absolutely amazing

This has to be the best litRPG I've listened to, even better than ready player one, or any other I've listened to in this genre. This is a must read/listen if you keen on litRPG.

wow

That's it. Simply wow. Read this and get ready to buy the next book before you're halfway through. Who knew reading a book following the "bad guy" could be so great!
