About this listen

Follow an unfortunate soul who has been thrown into a fantasy world with nothing. He is quickly railroaded into joining the Legion and has to develop under harsh conditions while slowly discovering his potential power.

This story has light LitRPG elements with a stat and magic advancement system. The MC is not overpowered and experiences the pain of growth as he tries to find a place in the strange new world while staying alive. Neither are coming easy to him as his Legion Company is constantly in harm's way.

Fantastic story and very interesting magic system. Both the first and second books are great can’t wait for the third!

Shockingly good

I grew up on Tolkien but never had any interest in D&D. Having said that I enjoy a good sword and sorcery romp as much as the next GoT fan boy. I got this book via the audible algo who offered it to me either free or on a killer deal…their thinking being “get him hooked and he’ll buy the series” and they were correct! At first I thought…oh no another nerdy YA D&D slog with endless lists of hit points and spells…and there’s some of that early on but once it gets going the tone improves and it becomes and enjoyable engaging romp. The magical rules make a kind of sense. And the story telling is brisk and engaging. Couple of things I really appreciate are virtually no romantic plot and our hero isn’t the annoying, anguished weakling…no he’s into his surprising new world and wields his powers in a fun way. The narrator is top notch and pulls of female characters much better than most. I’d certainly recommend it to any fan of Tolkien, George RR or Le Guin

A soldier’s life

It’s a good book nice to get away from the more anime style of reincarnation book style really a good one keeps you in the moment wanting to know what is going to happen next

Really great

Not too much wasted time spitting out numbers, main character NOT OP…yet…and really cool world building. I’m a big fan and will likely listen to it more than once.

D&D nail biter

Exciting, detailed, Great character building and very well narrated! Did I mention exciting?
The way the author draws you in with the details of the world and character building. Adding the pull of the narrator. Makes it extremely hard to put down and not listen for the what's next...
Amazing read! thank you!

This was highly entertaining!💜

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this book. It has many aspects that I enjoyed, such as paranormal/fantasy, action, adventure as well as drama and intrigue.
I loved the characters and the way there roles come together.
I almost wished I hadn’t started this series until it was completed. I don’t like waiting for the next book, instead I prefer to binge my series if possible. Especially when the stories are not standalone.
That said, I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
The narration was absolutely amazing. Jonathan Waters has the perfect voice for this genre and this series in particular. I hope the author continues to use him to tell his stories.
This is book 1 and continues to the next story.
I highly recommend this book.

Just wow

This is my first Litrpg book I’ve done and just wow
I’m completely and utterly hooked
I got so soaked into the story that I went Crunchyroll to watch this because I got it in my head that I was watching anime not listening to a book

The story is captivating the narrator does a fantastic job
10/10 would recommend to anyone who’s into DND or fantasy
I hope this turns into a long series because this has so much potential for world building
