Publisher's summary

From the queen of Regency romance comes a heartwarming new story.

Lady Jennifer Arden and Ben Ellis know that a match between them is out of the question. Yet their hearts yearn for the impossible.

Left unable to walk by a childhood illness, Lady Jennifer, sister of the Duke of Wilby, has grown up to make a happy place for herself in society. Outgoing and cheerful, she has many friends and enjoys the pleasures of the Season—even if she cannot dance at balls or stroll in Hyde Park. She is blessed with a large, loving, and protective family. But she secretly dreams of marriage and children, and of walking—and dancing.

When Ben Ellis comes across Lady Jennifer as she struggles to walk with the aid of primitive crutches, he instantly understands her yearning. He is a fixer. It is often said of him that he never saw a practical problem he did not have to solve. He wants to help her discover independence and motion—driving a carriage, swimming, even walking a different way. But he must be careful. He is the bastard son of the late Earl of Stratton. Though he was raised with the earl’s family, he knows he does not really belong in the world of the ton.

Jennifer is shocked—and intrigued—by Ben’s ideas, and both families are alarmed by the growing friendship and perhaps more that they sense developing between the two. A duke’s sister certainly cannot marry the bastard son of an earl. Except sometimes love can find a way.

I’m LOVING this series!!

All three books so far are excellent— as I always expect from Mary Balogh, but I love this beautiful family and all the characters. This story was so heartwarming.

Wonderful story

This was a wonderful story, I enjoyed the entire series and hope that in the future the author will create a book about Stephanie Ware’s happy ever after story!!!

Best of the series

This was by far the best of the series in my opinion! I loved that the main characters weren’t in deep denial of their burgeoning feelings for one another. Well done Mary Balogh, and keep up the good work!

Overall, this has been a very enjoyable trilogy

Each of the books has been interesting and appealing. Each could be enjoyed by a newcomer to Balogh's books, but more so than most, this trio would benefit a first-timer the most if the books were read in order.
There's a lot of backstory and family history for the primary characters which all serves to enrich the trilogy.

Just a moving and heartfelt story-loved it!

Mary Balogh has a gift for telling romantic stories. I have yet to read or listen to one of her books that wasn’t a joy. The ending of this one made me cry. The narrator is wonderful. I’m pretty critical of narrators, they can ruin a great book.

Another beautiful Balogh novel

Each Mary Balogh’s series only gets better. Ravenswood series is the latest family to love and the 3rd book Ben and Jennifer’s is no exception. A lovely and unique story and Rosalyn Landor is the absolute best narrator.

Oh This Lady!

This lady, this Mary Balogh, is just too much! How can she create another wonderful series? How can she write one amazing book after another? How can she make me fall in love with each H/h of every novel? How can she make me experience everything from laughter to tears to sadness to happily emotional tears in each book? I don’t know the answer to any of those questions. I just wait all bated for the next. Regarding Steph and Bertram (from another series) I can only say two things: please don’t make her amazingly thin (as she is perfectly beautiful as she is) and please please please please pleeze write it soon. Thank you for another great listen as well. I just love Rosalyn Landor.
