About this listen

An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Loved the story, not much the narration

the story was great & that's how I got through the narration. the narration was intense from the start to the end even at the scenes which were not that intense.

I often got confused as to which character was at play. Same intensity for every character & every sentence.

Harry Bosch never lets you down

I purchased this audiobook after reading the book many years ago. The beginning is unusually slow and a bit unconvincing, as if Connelly needed a few pages to warm up. But then the story picks up in complexity and speed and becomes truly compelling. Another solid Harry's book , a true pleasure for his fans.

Typical, quality Michael Connolly, Harry Bosch Nov

This novel is Harry Bosch at his best. The story is top notch. The Narrator drove me nuts. I am audibling from book 1, in order, through the Harry Bosch series. Dick Hill Narrated the first 5 novels. He is phenomenal. Peter GIles, narrator for Angles Flight did not do this novel justice in any way. I found myself rushing through the novel, just so I wouldn't have to listen to Peter Giles anymore.

Great story BUT .....

Another great Bosch novel but this narrator’s voice is very hard to get use to. I really wish they could have stayed with Dick Hill who read the first five novels.

Poor Harry

What did you love best about Angels Flight?

I love the levels of the story and different plots --Harry's personal life, his professional life, etc. I'm a huge fan of Connelly and all of his books. I find his characters extremely well-developed and clearly defined. The plots draw me in from the first and keep me in throughout the listen. I enjoy all of the characters and how the series and characters develop. We can pretty much count on Harry solving the crime, him never finding a relationship that lasts....but that repetition as Connelly writes it is okay. Well handled.

Have you listened to any of Peter Giles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent narrator

Even a flat reading couldn't kill this story

Harry Bosch is addicting. I’m reading the books in order, and of the first six novels in the series, this is one of the better ones — at least in terms of the story. Moving from Dick Hill to Peter Giles as narrator was rocky, though. I eventually got used to him, but where Peter Giles just read the book, making no distinction whatsoever between one voice and another, Dick Hill made the text and characters come alive. Even so, the text won out. I couldn’t stop listening.

A story line that doesn't disappoint

Im glad i did not give into the reviews about the narrator. It was not the best narration but it did not ruin the book. I have not listen to all the Harry Bosch books but have listen to a lot of them. This was one of the best. The story was excellent. I would have given it a 5 except I thought the part of the book dealing with the problems in his person life were not up to par with the rest of the story. Overall you will not be disappointed.

Another great book

Another great listen from Connelly. The narrator fits better in reading suspense movie trailers, but still a good book.
