About this listen

From the creators of the wildly popular and seriously scientific YouTube channel AsapSCIENCE comes entertaining, irreverent, and totally accessible answers to the questions you never got to ask in science class.

Why do we get hungover? What would happen if you stopped sleeping? Is binge watching TV actually bad for you? Why should I take a power nap? In their first-ever audiobook, Mitchell Moffit and Greg Brown, the geniuses behind YouTube channel AsapSCIENCE, explain the true science of how things work in their trademark hilarious and fascinating fashion.

Applying the fun format of their addictive videos to topics ranging from brain freeze to hiccups to the science of the snooze button, AsapSCIENCE takes the underpinnings of biology, chemistry, physics, and other hard sciences and applies them to everyday life through quirky and relatable examples that will appeal to both science nerds and those who didn't ace chemistry. This is the science that people actually want to learn, shared in a friendly, engaging style. And in the spirit of science, no subject is taboo. Amid the humor is great information and cocktail conversation fodder, all thoughtfully presented. Whether you're a total newbie or the next Albert Einstein, this guide is sure to educate and entertain...ASAP.

A fun way to bring questions you might have thought throughout the day in a simple explanation that makes you understand it way better. I've read this 3 times and still am interested in it and use the info in groups and gatherings!

So interesting and fun to listen to!

The topics and content was great just like on their YouTube channel. However, since it is written and performed in the same style, the narration ends up being a bit too fast for an audio book. Without the normal visual cues, it requires more concentration to really consume the content. It would have been much more enjoyable and relaxing if they slowed down and paced themselves better for the audio book.

Great content, but a bit too fast paced

The information, just like in there videos, was presented clearly and in a fun way. There is obviously overlap between their videos and the book, but I didn't mind hearing all of the interesting information again.

Great listen and very informative.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Answers questions that we probably all have thought of at one time or another. Like if your food it;s the floor does the 5 second rule really apply.Silent but deadly ....do I have to explain. What's with bad breath. Gross little things like this peppered throughout the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of AsapSCIENCE?

The 5 second rule will probably stand out the most. Knowledge is power so I will change the way I'e played this ruke.

Weird Science

I was really hoping to listen some research of the theory that says that the universe is infinite or some facts about the brain in masturbation

i loved it but important things were left behind

AsapSCIENCE is the YouTube channel brainchild of Mitchell Moffit and Greg Brown which has branched out into the worlds of Facebook, tumblr, Twitter and now, a real paper, ink, electrons and pixels book. IN Audio form.

Moffit and Brown, the founders of AsapScience, are a pair of Canadian 20-somethings whose highly clickable YouTube videos, which bring science to younger adults and older teens, attract millions of hits. In their illustrated debut, the pair answers the kinds of questions kids often ask and adults occasionally ponder, such as why people hate photos of themselves, why people mostly catch colds during cold weather, whether humans can spontaneously combust, if sneezing can cause one’s eyeball to pop out, and whether cracking one’s joints in puberty leads to arthritis in old age. The book is accurate—for example, the authors do not overstate the importance of the endogenous chemical oxytocin to feelings of love—and entertaining, though it may not be a perfect gift for parents to give to teens, considering chapters entitled “Will Dancing Get you Laid?,” “The Scientific Hangover Cure,” and “The Science of Morning Wood.” Questions of propriety aside, there is plenty of valuable material in the book, particularly for the young and curious.

Definitely Interesting and Well Narrated and short enough to listen to in a sitting, well worth it, and Recommended.

Pretty Interesting, Diverse Facts

I listened to this book for two consecutive days while working and commuting, keeping it more as an interesting background rather than actively listening to it.
Fact is, I am a fan of the YouTube channel and I bought it being actually aware of it being just a narration of the videos and most probably not presenting any new content.

And so it was.

My advice is: if you are new to ASAPScience and didn't know that this great guys do this every week, please listen to this.
If you, like me, think that Greg and Mitchell are great and deserve recognition for their work also outside of YouTube, buy it (then you are free not to listen to it or read it).

If you saw the videos and for some strange reason don't like them, stay away.

Good stuff for old and new fans
