About this listen

San Francisco homicide detective Jane Candiotti never shies away from the risks of the job. Now she’s finally ready to gamble on her personal life, inviting her partner and boyfriend Kenny Marks to move in. But just when domestic bliss settles in, Skip Lacey, an ex-cop turned junkie, is found brutally murdered, his eyes gouged out with a spoon. He is the first—but he won’t be the last.

Because after fifteen years on the inside maximum security, a bloodthirsty ex-con is finally free to exact his revenge on the city’s peacekeepers who’d kept him behind bars. One by one the mutilated bodies pile up, while the SFPD scrambles to unmask the killer who is decimating their ranks. For Jane and Kenny, the only thing worse than watching their friends and colleagues fall is the knowledge that, unless they can stop this unrelenting madman in time, any day could be their last.

Very intriguing with many unexpected lot twists. I am looking forward to the next audio book.

This narrator is finally growing on me. Good character differentiation and gender pitch.

I didn't care that much for this story. I have a difficult time listening to this narrator. I mean with all her readings. She is the same with everything she reads. It's hard to get lost in the story with her pauses ending sentences almost like a question and sooo bad on male voices.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No. I would recommend they read the book instead.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blindsided?

The scene with the Lt's son being killed and them huddled around the radio was very well written,

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Dawe’s performances?

NO! The cadence was awful! She puts the inflection at the end of every, single sentence or prior to every comma. It was nothing short of distracting. She does voices rather well and manages to break away from this when she is "in character", she just can't seem to narrate. It is a shame, because the story was actually quite good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to literally hundreds of audiobooks, and this is the first time I ever felt compelled to write a negative review.

Great Story, Horrible Narration

The narrator is terrible. The cadence is off, the inflection is wrong and she makes the main male character sound like a moron. Disappointing especially since there are three books with this narrator.

Awful narration

Enjoyed the story line but the readers voice was very monotonous which was a struggle to listen to.

Clyde Phillips seems to have a talent for ending his novels with a surprise twist.

Angela Dawe is beyond doubt the worst narrator I've listened to. It's sad because the Clyde Phillips novels are quite good.

Another surprise twist at the end!

What did you like best about Blindsided? What did you like least?

The story line was ok but the twist was extremely predictable after reading the first book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Not surprising

Was Blindsided worth the listening time?

Yes

Blindsided was ok but predictable

What made the experience of listening to Blindsided the most enjoyable?

Reader Angela Dawe is why I purchased. If you like Romance J.D. Robb, then you may like this series. Our heroine has more of a famine side/emotions.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Twists keep you on the edge.
Well done! I cried and the end made me say WHOA!

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love her male voices and Kenny, hero, is tops! I love his sense of humor and sarcasm

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yup, I did listen into the night!

Any additional comments?

I have purchase 2 of the four. These have a bit of the macabre as writer does TV Dexter series.

Makes You Hold Your Breath

the story is pretty good. the reader is not..

at least not for me. reading sounds forced...and rather wooden. I shut the book off numerous times due to her voice and style. not fair to the author as the story is pretty good.
