About this listen

From the author of My Husband's Wife, Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Blood Sisters by Jane Corry, read by Zoe Thorne and Emilia Fox.

Three little girls set off to school one sunny May morning. Within an hour one of them is dead.

Fifteen years later Alison and Kitty are living separate lives. Kitty lives in a care home. She can't speak, and she has no memory of the accident that put her there or her life before it. Art teacher Alison looks fine on the surface. But the surface is a lie. When a job in a prison comes up, she decides to take it - this is her chance to finally make things right.

But someone is watching Kitty and Alison. Someone who wants revenge for what happened that day. And only another life will do....

Awesome Book

This book was well written and keeps you guessing till the end. Loved the story told from Kitty's point of view.

Disappointed

I loved her other books and was excited about this one but it never went anywhere. It was slow and drug on. I didn't finish it.

Far fetched but has some redeeming qualities

First off, the performances of both narrators are excellent. Emilia Fox is always wonderful!

Plotwise, I was definitely in suspense quite a bit, and actually gasped at one point. Some of the twists and reveals were extremely far-fetched, but suspension of disbelief still allowed me to enjoy.

I came away from this book with a great deal of empathy for Kitty— the way Corry describes her as a child versus the adult we meet is heartbreaking. The way she expresses the thoughts of a brain-damaged individual was really incredible to me.

Annoying characters

I enjoyed another if the author's books, my husband's wife. It wasn't great but good enough. This mess, however, was terrible. The story lacked any sort of verisimilitude or cohesion. It dragged on and on and on. The main character was a complete dipsh*t and made ridiculously dumb choices. The dialogue was laughably bad. People simply don't talk this way. Just a painfully bad story with whiny, helpless characters you want to slap sense into. Don't bother!

Dragged On & Whiney Characters

I enjoyed this author's other title My Husband's Wife, but this one not so much. The main character irritated the hell out of me. She was whiney, and irritating. This story dragged out unnecessarily with no real story line or developed characters. The surprises were not so surprising and boring.
