About this listen

So Carlotta Wren's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white-collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue-blood fiancé dumping her. And she didn't plan on still being single 10 years later, working at Neiman Marcus, with no idea where her fugitive parents are. But she's coping. Until -

- her lovable brother is arrested, and the hunky cop decides to reopen her parents' case.

- her brother becomes a body mover for the morgue, and his sexy boss gets Carlotta involved.

- her former fiancé's wife (a good customer) is murdered, fingering Carlotta.

With three men in her life, Carlotta has added motivation to help bag a murderer to keep her own well-dressed body from being next on the list!

Learn to pronounce the dang word!

Honestly, everytime I heard the narrator say the word "garage" I wanted to punch her in the face with my foot. It was distracting and really took away from the story, since whenever she said it I thought about it for at least 30 seconds and missed whatever came next in the story.

Lots of fun.

This was my second time listening to this story. I am relistening to the series, hoping there will be more books added soon.

Stephanie Bond Delivers

I enjoyed this new series by Stephanie Bond. The characters are entertaining with the right balance of fiction along with "I think I know a person just like that." Maureen Jones is a fantastic narrator.

Too many variations in recording

It was so frustrating to listen to. So many of the voices were “whispered”. I kept having to turn the sound up and down. The story was God’s, but if you are going to set a story in the South, have it narrated by someone who has at least been to the South and knows the pronunciation of words in the South..

Hannah is worse than “garage”

Soo many reviews about the way garage is pronounced but so few about Hannah’s ANNOYING valley girl voice?!?? I had to fast forward through her parts. Painful to listen to. Otherwise it’s a cute book.

Great read!

This was a sit on the edge of your seat story! So many possibilities for the murderer. I did not even come close with my guesses. Stephanie Bond is a great author and I love Maureen Jones voice! Carlotta and her brother are in and out of trouble like clockwork! This was a combination of scary drama with a bit of funny and romance ! A good read for sure!

Great Series!

I'm really enjoying the series however, I don't like the narrator's voice. If it wasn't for the voice, I'd have to say this is one of my favorites.

Wrong Narrator

Loved the story, but hated the Canadian accent of the narrator who is doing a story set in Atlanta. So many words were just wrong. The story really is great though!

Good story! I don’t love the reader.

I love this series. I decided to invest in the audio. The reader has a way of making all dialogue translate the most corny way possible. The voice of Peter Ashford sounds like some wise guy caricature. I physically cringed in places.
