No Brotherly Love

When a police officer opens a case considered closed it changes the lives of those considered guilty and those presumed to be victims. Jess has been institutionalized for a decade for murdering her parents. Now it appears that possibly her brother, her former boyfriend, or both committed the crime. The chapters alternate between Jess and her doctor, giving you insight into all the characters. I was gifted this from the author.

A great psychological thriller

This is a suspense by Heather B. Moore do I need to say anything else? You do not want to start this book at night because you'll keep reading until you fall asleep (if you can) or until you finish the book. I did not want to stop reading this story. Yes, I say that EVERY TIME, but that's because the author is so good at keeping me engrossed in the story I HAVE TO KNOW what happens!

The chapters are told in alternating viewpoints of Jessica (Jess), a young woman who's been in a facility for the past 9 years for killing her parents, and Logan, the psychiatrist who takes over her care. This is when things get very interesting.

I hate when I can't say much in a review without giving anything away, but this is a great story which will hold your interest. The characters are well written. Logan is a wonderful and caring psychiatrist who only wants the best for his patients, and his receptionist/assistant seems very interesting. I like how the author describes her outfits.

I wasn't happy with the way the characters end up because I love happily ever after endings. I understand why it ended the way it did, but I still wasn't happy. I wish there had been a prologue showing Jessica a few years later. I know she's a fictional character but I want a truly happy ending for her.

I really liked the dual narration, both narrators did a superb job.

Great psychological thriller

This is one of those books that grabbed my attention from the beginning till the end. I do agree with another reviewer that the romance part was totally unnecessary for the plot. Also, the book could have ended earlier than it had. I liked the plot twists and suspense.

About the narrators, I like Steve West's performance, but next to Karissa Vacker , he sounded robotic. Her British accents were way better than his American accents. I always prefer one narrator books and in this case, it would have made the experience much better.

A great Thriller!

What a powerful and great thriller Breaking Jess was. The narrators Steve West and Karissa Vacker took H.B.’s words come to life. This excellent piece will blow you away. Not remembering the death of her parents she is sent to a mental institution faced with the knowledge she was reasonable for the deaths. Not till a new Doctor comes on her case does the truth start to come out. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend not just the audio but also the book! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

A great romantic thriller

What I enjoyed and found interesting:

• This read was an emotional roller coaster for me. I really connected with Logan and Jess.
• There were twists and turns in this book that kept me guessing. I would come up with one theory about who was good and who was bad. Then my theory would be shot down.
• There was lots of suspense and some action.
• I liked that this story was told through the alternating views of Logan and Jess.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• The author presented a well-crafted enjoyable story. It kept my interest from the beginning until the end.
• This was a clean read.
• The narrators were excellent and they brought this story to life.
• If you enjoy romantic suspense with characters you can connect with, you'll like reading this one.

At my request, I was given a free copy of this audiobook from the author. I have voluntarily left this review and my opinions were my own.

Great Read

Breaking Jess was a great read by H.B. Moore. Jessica has been told that she killed her parents nine years ago. She cant remember anything about that night, other than what she’s been told by others. HEr psychiatrist, Logan, unearths details about the murders. It is then that a decade of lies begin to unravel. I really enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

Wow! Could not turn it off.

Beautifully written and narrated, this suspenseful mystery had me hooked before I finished listening to the first chapter. The cast members are well developed. narrators superb. I could barely wait to get to the end and hear how the leftover loose ends were woven together and at the same time not wanting it to ever end!

Couldn't stop listening. Great story.

This audiobook was so interesting I listened to the whole thing in one day. Yes, I may have missed some important interactions ("I'll find out what casserole to bring to the funeral tomorrow, right now I'm listening to a book") but that's beside the point.
