About this listen

There is no calm after the storm. But there is perseverance, ingenuity, and a whole lot of courage.

Leo's life has been dismantled. Now with his father missing, he must rely on himself more than ever, but he's still young. His older brother does what he can to help, but soon even Andar will rely on Leo to free them from this nightmare. The king's army is taking over the city, against the wishes of every citizen, but there's something special about Leo that might change everything.

Leo must grow up quickly to achieve his potential, but at a cost. He must join the very people who could destroy everything he cares about.

Second in the series and another success!

Listened every chance I got. I'll get the next on release day! Narration was a little better to handle this go around. It took me about 2/3 of the first book to get used to Simon Vance. It's a personal struggle for me with every new book to get a feel of how the narrator envisions the author through tone, impersonation, and other elements. Much better for me this go around

Same as the first one

If you liked the first one, you will probably like this one also. I'm torn as to why I keep listening other than liking the characters. A lot of nothing with a decent climax. For some reason, the nothing parts are listenable. If you want hack and slash, this series isn't for you.

Great listen!

I couldn’t stop listening. The writing pulls you into the characters and their story, while Simon Vance does an outstanding job of narrating.

The world and character building is amazing

I love this writing style and the world building and character development is top notch. Even his time skips are seamless and you don’t feel like you’ve missed a lot. The narrator is perfect for this book. I can’t recommend it enough.

Open mind adventures

I love to imagine the worlds in my head as i listen and this book does a great job at it & i love the story line. The only this that i dont like about the audio book is that the girls dont sound as feminine i guess? Besides that 10/10

A good read, but it’s very short

The plot of this second book in the series was more polished than the first book. I enjoyed this a great deal, but am a bit annoyed that the book is so short. I completed the book in one day & im hungry for more. I normally don’t purchase audible books that are only a few hours in length like this & the other books in the series. However, it was a good read & I recommend it the story.

Be patient. its worth it.

The story is quite slow, but I appreciate the effort taken in explaining the story over time. a very enjoyable story.

The story thickens.

Simon Vance the narrator keeps you enthralled in this intricate story . The characters are very interesting and the story is gripping.

Too much recap

This truly is a wonderful series, but the author needs to give some credit to its readers. For such a short story, way too much is inhabited by story retelling.
