About this listen

The first US / UN invasion of the renegade lunar colony of Aristillus has failed - but the powers-that-be in Washington and elsewhere can't give up. Their political careers - and an escape from the economic decline of Earth under a command-and-control economy - depend on conquering the lunar expats.

A second - and final - invasion is planned. The lunar settlers prepare to repel the onslaught, but what can a small population of 1 million do against the combined might of billions on Earth - especially now that the PKs have the secret of the antigravity drive, and sleeper cells embedded inside the very heart of Aristillus? Open source software, markets, big guns, combat robots, and uplifted dogs let the rebels punch far above their weight - but is it enough to even the odds?

Turns out Ayn Rand is a genre, this book is great one in it

Funny, good action, good sci fi world building, solid characters and great exploration of challenges in building a libertarian or ancap society

Heinlein would be proud

The only thing not Heinlein-esk is the lack of sex! This series truly follows along with the masters of the genre. It makes you think and question the status quo. What side would you be on, and how would you defend it? Some day this will be science fact and a guide for what comes next.

Great Googly Moogly This Is GOOD!!

Okay, so I meant to say GREAT! The second in the Aristillus Series will not disappoint! I promise! O know I sund like a fanboy, and I suppose I am, being both male and a fan, but so what?
This book is a rich tapestry of great science, "what if" science, genetic manipulation, space battles, intrepid pioneers, shady government dealings, corruption and retribution and dogs. Not just your standard dogs either. Oh, and an AI with mysterious motives.
Mr. Corcoran has done a tremendous job of weaving a tale that is frighteningly possible, provided we invent one or two things. (Personally, I'm optimistic. Jules Verne was a visionary with some of the fanciful items he filled his stories with. Look what happened a few years after he wrote of submarines.) Could it happen? Who knows?

All I know is, I'm rooting for the dogs.

I thoroughly enjoyed

The story was great and the performance was also. I highly recommend. I feel this deserves a second listen which I don’t do often.

5 stars for a book I hate!

Why do I hate this book? Because it ends and there’s no 3rd book (yet!). More action, more dogs, and an ending that has me so wound up to see what happens next that I’m besides myself in anticipation.

This series calls out to anyone who’s wanted more freedom to live their life and looked out beyond the horizon in hopes you can go far enough out just to be left alone. If you’ve listened to the first book & liked it (if you didn’t I can only assume you’re one of the people who cheer the Earth faction) then do yourself the favor and listen to the second it’s better than the first. A rarity for a sophomore venture in a series.

B1 8/10, B2 9.5/10

Thought B1 was pretty good, but B2 is GREAT, a lot of fun! Eagerly awaiting B3.
PS some reviewers state like A. Rand.. Have they ever read her works? These characters only have have remotest aspects, not even close imo. Rand writing style clubs the reader over the head with concepts. Character positions in these books are stated and the story moves on. No clubbing here, and character actions feel in-line with their positions and traits.
