About this listen

Blades and wizardry.

Fearsome monsters and fearless magicians.

Intrepid warriors and illicit gangs.

Spirits and sentient trees.

Primordial enemies and fables come to life.

Set in the same world as the epic fantasy Convent series, beginning with "A Dead Wizard’s Dream", this collection of 11 fantasy short stories takes a closer look at lands and peoples less explored in the Chronicles series so far.

From the barbaric and barren Lama Kulul Desert where dwell sinister lizard-men to the lush and lawless Archipelago where barbaric Goblins roam, this adventure-filled anthology is brimming with action, magic and old lore.

Featured in Chronicles of Maradoum, Volume 3:

"The Fainting Wizard"

Enjoyable fantasy read

Chronicles of Maradoum Volume 3: A Fantasy Anthology, my fifth read from author Ross C. Hughes, who I'd never read before March of this year. I was given a review copy of Secrets of the Ashlands (Convent Series Book 2) & since I'd gotten A Dead Wizard's Dream (Convent Series Book 1) back in November of 2019 I wanted to read it first, and now this. I'm glad I did. Well-written and developed, drawing on earlier books in the series. Conanesque in nature, 170pages/6-hours 38-minutes, but reads longer due to the detail & development of the story. In re-reading this audiobook Michael Beckett's narration addsed to an excellent book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Dark Short Story Collection

Purchase and listened to this book via Credit on Audible books.
This is the 3rd book in a collection of short stories that are rather dark. Personally the books 1-3 are really not my cup of tea and I did not care for them all that much. I see other reviews and some people seem to really like these, but each to their own

Well Written Fantasy

Once again Ross Hughes gives us 11 fantasy stories, like any anthology there are bound to be stories more to your liking than others, but in my opinion the overall quality is high, with most of the stories showing writing skills, imagination and great characters, I had read about 4 or 5 of the stories previously, so it was a joy for me to be able to listen to them, if you are into some good fantasy, this is for you. ..Michael Beckett did a nice job with the different voices...I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

More Awesome Short Stories of Maradoum

Chronicles of Maradoum, Volume 3 - by Ross Hughes

I really enjoy these tales from all corners of Maradoum, tales that flesh out the intriguing world in which the saga of the Convent is set. Gruesome tales of love, duplicity, loyalty and sacrifice. Glimpses of the other folks in Maradoum and their lives, culture and heritage. I especially enjoyed "The Sandman and the Serpents" and "Yeti Mountain". "Ghosts of the Madlands" gives a preview of what awaits the Witchson in book 4 of the Convent saga. Enjoy.

A different narrator, but Michael Beckett does an excellent job of bringing these stories to life. The transition between narrators is seamless.
