It’s time to stop second-guessing yourself and start building the qualities that will make you an authentic, amazing leader. In the past century, women have scaled new heights in the workplace. From working as clerks and secretaries in the 1950s, women today are now holding top positions in the world’s largest corporations. Yet, women remain vastly underrepresented in leadership roles, making up only five percent of Fortune 500 CEOs, and 10 percent of top management positions in S&P 1500 companies, despite accounting for 47 percent of the labor workforce.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to stop once you get yourself into the spiral of overthinking. Deeply Personal, Powerful Help.
This book was birthed from very painful life experiences, and even unspeakable tragedy. It's rare for someone to rise out of the ashes and live life after such things. Even rarer, to take your pain and let it be transformed into healing for others. Even rarer still, to make that healing available to people all over the world.
That's exactly what this author has done. As she states in her introduction to the reader:
"It's time to begin the journey of uncrushing your soul. It's time to live again."
I have experienced burnout in many areas of life. And I think, after reading this book - and glimpsing at what healthy workplaces look like vs. unhealthy ones - I can appreciate the healthy aspects of places I've worked, and wake up to the unhealthy aspects.
But this book doesn't simply take a victim stance. The goal here is to empower the reader to do their best work while still maintaining the integrity of their health. Developing emotional intelligence, good communication and conflict resolution skills, setting boundaries, and being the change ... these are all tools talked about, and beautifully so.
And there are even tools given to heal from past trauma around workplace burnout. A vital thing often overlooked.
If you're looking to give your best, in a healthy, sustainable way, this is a great listen.

Really fantastic book!
This book digs deep into the struggles of toxic workplaces, offering practical strategies to reclaim your passion and sanity. From recognizing toxic behaviors to cultivating assertiveness, it's a comprehensive toolkit for personal and professional growth. What I love most is its empowering message—you don't have to wait for change; you can initiate it now.
What really sets this book apart is Alison's authentic and empathetic style. It's not cluttered with meaningless buzzwords but rather resembles a sincere chat with a friend who empathizes with your challenges. The wisdom shared, particularly the author's personal highlights, really resonated with me. The focus on conquering workplace trauma and refusing to let it dictate your path forward is both empowering and uplifting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking fulfillment and balance in their career and life. Highly recommend!

Insightful and Comforting
Alison Flickinger gives solid advice about work and personal relationships, while giving listeners a peak and some of the troubles she and others have had during their most tumultuous experiences in life, all while maintaining a positive attitude. Fantastic story-telling by Sally Fourth keeps the listeners engaged throughout. Loved it, beginning to end!

Burnout No More!
Many of us can truly relate to this book as we are most often overwhelmed with our jobs. It would be nice if we all had that perfect job with perfect boss and employees. But let's be realistic, work will always have some form of stress eventually leading to a burnout.
This book provides practical methods to reduce or even eliminate workplace burnout. I also really liked how the author provided detailed information about topics related to burnout. But what I love most is the comprehensive guide with powerful techniques to balance work and personal life. I also love the methods on how to deal with toxic individuals and the workplace as a whole.
If you want to develop yourself and become healthier from a toxic workplace, then this is the right book for you. Go ahead and get it as I would highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with work-life balance.

Relevant and Needed
Such a necessary topic! I found myself in a very toxic workplace just over a year ago. It was always toxic i think, but intensified after covid; and upon leaving I was the 12th person that had left in under a year. SO sad to hear about the authors co-worker's suicide. The first chapter does a great job of covering the real cost of toxic workplaces. It affects us in every way, shape and form. The worst of it for me when I was a new mom and made to seem like my maternity leave was "vacation". Leaving felt so liberating.
The narrator and words from the author were gentle and compassionate. Chapter 3 "change starts with you" was one of my favorites about boundaries and taking matters into our own hands. This chapter goes into how to set boundaries and the importance of doing so.
"Recovering from Trauma in a toxic workplace" covered in chapter 8 was also one of my favorites. Far too often these uncomfortable environments can become so "normal" that we fail to realize that we have experienced trauma, especially when feelings are disregarded. It is easy not to realize that what we have experienced is trauma. This chapter does a great job ad validating our experiences and helping understand why we feel the way we feel and it was very empowering to know that it wasnt me, it was the environment.
This audiobook covered all the points to help you understand what you are or were experiencing, validate your feelings and equip you with techniques to overcome the trauma, conquer burnout and be well on our way to mental, physical and spiritual health.
