About this listen

Go to war or go to jail.

For small-time street hustler Cam Alvarez, the choice is simple. He has no family, no friends, no place in the world...nothing to lose. When his latest con results in the death of a cartel hitman, Cam opts to join the Marines and leave Earth to fight a vicious alien enemy.

Drafted into the Marine Drop-Troopers, Cam discovers there’s one thing he’s even better at than running street-con games, and that’s killing the enemy. Wrapped in an armored battlesuit, Cam finds purpose amidst the horror and destruction of the war, and the opportunity for a new sort of friends and family...if he can break the habits of a life spent alone, trusting no one.

And, if he can survive....

Rick Partlow returns with another kickass military sci-fi epic. It's perfect for fans of Jay Allan, Jasper T. Scott, and Scott Bartlett.

This is a great story!

I came in with no expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. You can tell that the author knows what he's talking about when it comes to military. The plot is solid and the characters are believable and likable. The narrator does a good job delivering the story. I'm starting the next book as soon as I'm done typing this. I will continue to listen to this series. I was given this code for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was NOT given the second or third books. I bought those after listening to this about halfway through. I'll leave those reviews as soon as I'm done listening. Highly recommended!

Starship Trooper 2.0

if you loved the Heinlein Classic you'll love this series. The powered armor fits like a comfortable old slipper. I'm suprised it took an author so long to dust off the concept.

Pretty good if you like scifi Military combat.

Good characters. typical sci-fi evil aliens premise. Characters dealing with the horrors of war death and lose from a ground pounders view.
plot does fast forward through what can be the dull stuff for untalented writers. But this plot seemed to be geared for a complete start to finish movie plot.
worth the credit if you like this kind of stuff

Amazing new YA Military Series!!!

If you're like me love YA military sci-fi audiobooks where you follow the MC first as a civilian and then as a recruit at the training camp. and then becoming a marine/drop trooper. This is just the series for you.

I have listened to many YA military sci-fi but either there is to many POVs to follow or the MC is nothing special and is just one out of thousands of soldiers. this book/series only follows the MC and he's not just another soldier, but quickly becomes one of the best Drop troopers in the Commonwealth

the only negative thing i have to say about this book is the time jumps. Those from his childhood are just annoying (in my opinion) but. they do help to get to know the MC better. But the other time jumps when them MC was in training, there were a few times right after a time jump that i didn't know if the MC were still in training or in real combat. and that was just confusing. The last negative thing was that the books is only 8 hours long and when i had about 2 hours remaining i was like noooooo there can't just be 2 hours left i neeeeeed mooooore. And now i'm just sitting here impatient Waiting for book 2 to hit Audible.

If you like book series like Undying Mercenaries by B. V. Larson or Frontlines by Marko Kloos
you are going to love this series

Incredibly Good Mil Sci-Fi

Rick Partlow has a smooth, concise, descriptive writing style that he uses to develop believable characters that react to circumstances in understandable ways. Contact Front is filled with vivid descriptions of action. Mr. Cronin is a talented voice actor who does a great job of helping bring the author’s work to life. It’s a great book that is well presented in audio format and I look forward to Book Two.

The Ghost of Heinlein

I thoroughly enjoyed this audible book and would highly recommend it. Yes, it was like Heinlein's "Starship Trooper" but different enough that you quickly got wrapped into his characters, his worlds and moved on. The characters were rich and flawed and you could close your eyes and feel them. Joy, fear, doubt and love are all present and I love an author who is not afraid to kill characters... it happens in war... it should happen in stories of war.

The narration was excellent by James Patrick Cronin ... crisp, plenty of inflection and conversational.

The Series was so good that I listened to all three books that were available at this time and will dive into the fourth book to read.
