About this listen

My name is Joe Marwood, and for the last 18 months I've been making a great income from writing blogs and outsourcing articles online. I was even able to quit my day job completely. And I've done this without any experience whatsoever.

In this audiobook I show how you can do it, too.

You see, in today's Internet-driven age, content is still king. And it's for this reason that there has never been a better time to set up your own freelance writing business.

Here's a quick overview of what you will learn from this audiobook:

  • Over 200 places to find freelance writing jobs online
  • How to win a high percentage of online writing jobs
  • How to make the most amount of money from your writing skills
  • How to charge clients correctly and the rules for freelancers
  • How to build your own freelance writing business and become a content tycoon
In addition, you will see my personal approach to writing online, how I earn $600 to $1000 a week writing, how I look for writing jobs online, and the exact pitch templates I use to win those jobs.

Please note: This book will not teach you how to write. This book is about making money from your writing. Anyone can do it!

Why should you be a writer?

Websites need written content to get onto the front page of Google. Businesses need copy to drive customers to their websites and make sales. Online magazines need content to keep their subscribers in check and sell advertising space.

In fact recent figures suggest that over 170,000 new blogs are added to the Internet every single day. Every one of those blogs is crying out for new content in order to move up the Google rankings and attract new readers.

The good thing is you don't need to have expert writing skills or be a professional writer to provide some of that content and get paid for doing so.

There Were Some Good Tips

The book was OK. I have already learned a lot about Freelance Writing and the first few chapters were counter to everything I have learned. However, the middle of the book gave some valuable information that I can use so I'm glad the book was short and inexpensive. Also, the site he gave me at the end to download the companion pieces took me to the wrong site.

Good quick reference for getting online work

Would you listen to Content Tycoon again? Why?

Yes, to go over the practical advice like the pitch or how much to charge.

What did you like best about this story?

It was straight forward and didn't try any "In a moment you'll learn how to be rich, but now I am going to fill some time..." He outlines all of the process with no fluff and no promises of being the answer to my prayers.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No. It sounded like a George Takei impressionist. Not unpleasant, but distracting.

What did you learn from Content Tycoon that you would use in your daily life?

To grind it out at first, it does work.

Any additional comments?

Would like to know more about dealing with jerks.

Valuable general info

This title had valued general info on becoming a freelance writer. It covered the very basics of getting started from creating a pitch to starting your own website to creating a business with subbing out writing jobs to others to increase volume.

What wasn't covered that I wish would have been is how serious experts in a field should approach larger platforms and what these experts can expect to get paid as a regular contributor/staff writer.

Great Information....Challenge to Listen To

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. The information was extremely helpful, current and relevant. The book is directed toward authors and I was planning to begin writing a very large large amount of content for work. The book lists several websites an author can utilize to freelance, sell content and specific tips and tricks to do so. In hearing this, I decided to freelance out the work and felt very comfortable doing so because of the knowledge I gained in this book.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The tone and inflection in the narrators voice is over the top, distracting and challenging to listen to. I was well through the third chapter before I could even concentrate to what he was saying.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but I would suggest taking notes and/or utilizing the bookmark feature. There are a great deal of websites referenced that I found highly valuable.

Not exactly the deep end of the pool, but good!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This book is like a binary option: That is, it's either worthless or of great worth, depending on whether or not you happen to be considering a career change to freelance writing. I am just now, so it's both thumbs up for me.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Matt Weight?

I have... no idea... but if I did.... I'd surely tell you.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

LOL

Great Content--Informative

What aspect of Matt Weight’s performance would you have changed?

Sounded as though the narrator went to the "Captain Kirk School of Inflection"...let it flow--have a conversation with the listener and it will be a much better experience.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no

Any additional comments?

I thought the content was informative and interesting.
