About this listen

The ocean's imponderable depths contain mysteries far beyond the grasp of mortal men. From the adventurous mariners of ancient times, to simple fishermen of our own New England of yesteryear, mankind has found the seven seas to be both the source of life, and a watery grave. When man seeks to delve too deeply into that abyss, what appalling secrets will rise to the surface? And what will mankind do when faced with the unnamed horrors of the deep?

A creative reimagining and dramatization of one of Lovecraft's most well known tale. Highly recommended, if you are a Lovecraft afficionado.

Great production, creative reimagining of story!

Dagon is such a short story I was wondering how they were going to adapters for DARK.
It was clever to use the short story as an intro into the radio show. I love how they leveraged the connection between Dagon and Innsmouth.
Such a good time!

Excellent original story!

I listened to this yesterday for a second time. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first time I listed to it. It is very nicely done. BTW they do apologize for the liberties they take with the original stories. So, it is intentional. I say enjoy it for what it is.

----------------------------------
I wandered about the subtitle before I bought this dramatized production, but I hoped it would be a dramatization of the story Dagon. It's not. It is an original HPLHS production inspired by Dagon and The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

If that is what you want them you are in good shape. I gave this a try because the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society produces outstanding readings of Lovecraft 's work and so I decided to give one of the dramatizations a try.

This production strays too far from the source material for my tastes. Though I can appreciate the quality of the production it isn't what I wanted. My plan was to return it upon completion. But, the last minute of the recording made me smile and changed my mind about returning it. I will want to listen to this again.

So, it isn't what I was looking for and I don't know if I will get more of the dramatizations or not. I recommend this to listeners interested in a dramatization that strays far from the source materials. I especially recommend this to.fans of the old War of the Worlds radio broadcast.

War of Worlds tells it all

This was so well done and so well performed that it sounded like an old broadcast. Worth the time spent and the listen.

I actually thought at times this was a real story

This story was very fun to listen to!! I enjoyed the melding of two stories. The acting and narration kept me interested the whole time.

I loved it!!

Great extrapolation off some fantastic stories. War of the Worlds tribute was also a great nod.

Great Original Work

This is a great introduction to Lovecraft which combines elements of Dagon, Call of Cthulhu, and Shadow Over Innsmouth into a 1930’s style “breaking news” radio broadcast. I highly recommended this. I only wish it was longer!

Fun and engaging!

Absolutely and always worth the time and money to check out something from Dark Adventure Radio Theatre!

Great retelling!

How do you take a short story and flesh is out for an entire DART episode? Brilliant idea, combine it with the greatest episode of radio theater ever! While the news bulletins here are quite as believable as Orson Wells' were, this is still the perfect treatment for this story. Love that its treated as a sequel to Shadow Over Innsmouth as well as the recurring characters!

Such a great idea!

This is an absolutely fantastic edition of the H.P. Lovecraft Society’s dramatization of the classic story Dagon. The original story was very short and ambiguous. The Society has crafted a frightening tale, mirroring the spirit of the old time radio dramas. Superb cast and production make a highly entertaining work come alive. I definitely need to get more of these!
Tip. You might want to listen to “The Shadow over Innsmouth” and “The Mountains of Madness” first.

Fantastic and Fun
