About this listen

To free the man she loves, she must face those who enslaved them both.

Against all odds, Amira and Daindreth found the Istovari sorceresses deep within the perilous Cursewood. But that turns out to be only the beginning.

They find the sorceresses greatly weakened and lacking the power they once had. The Istovari claim to be unable to free Daindreth from the curse they placed on him. Worse, most of them want to kill Daindreth to avenge his father’s banishment of their people.Meanwhile, Thadred finds himself miraculously alive. Not only that but bonded to a creature of myth. As he discovers new power as a sorcerer, he begins to wonder if perhaps there is more to his heritage than he was told and more to his potential than he ever dreamed. They are one step ahead of the empress’s plans, but the imperial agents are closing in. They are all running out of time before Daindreth is captured by the empress’s men and the Istovari are wiped out completely.

If Amira, Daindreth, and Thadred cannot persuade the sorceresses soon, the whole of the empire will pay the price.

The much-anticipated third installment in the five-book Daindreth’s Assassin series.

Wonderful twists and turns

As always, Elisabeth doesn't disappoint. The further I get into this series, the more I grow to love it's characters. I find myself exclaiming with joy when I hear the next chapter will be from Thadred's perspective. The climax of this story had an awesome plot twist I hadn't seen coming at all! Can't wait to begin the next book!

Respect for her characters.

Good world, good plot, great characters. Even the bad guys gets a good storyline. This audiobook in the series seems a bit rushed in the making, some double takes still in the audio. At one time a good part of a chapter. Could have done with a second ear. Does not bring down my overall rating.

The Journey Continues…

It is a very solid climax to the series and i am excited to see what comes next. I wholly enjoyed the climatic scenes and the interactions with the enigmatic characters such as the Lawyer, Captain of the Guard, and Empress. And wow! Wheatley sure does know how to write antagonist characters that get under your skin! I was a little disappointed with the love story. I can see why Amira loves Dain, he’s great! But other than bullying the demon in his head, I struggle to understand Dain’s romantic interest in Amira. The expansion of Thadred’s character was surprisingly enjoyable. I hadn’t cared much about it in the first 2 books but am interested in following his own storyline now. The flow in this one for me was a bit bumpy, which delayed my progression. But i think that’s a reflection more on my preferences than the actual work itself. The narration is spliced together at certain points and i heard a few repeats of sentences or words. But this didn’t detract from my enjoyment. Certainly going on to the next book and Wheatley has officially become one of my favorite and trusted authors.

Character dynamics!

I enjoy this series so much. The character development is so good for all of the main characters as well as the dynamics between them.
As always the story is so well formed, flowing so smoothly from one happening to the hazy without seeming forced or planed. I really appreciate the love that clearly shown not told between Dain and Amira. Their love is built of a relationship rich in kindness, understanding, growth, and the desire to heal and be heal. They are inspire on their own as individuals using what has happened to them to become better and as partners together supporting each other with love and their individual strengths.. Please keep writing your work is so refreshing.
Annslee.

Great story, audio has issues

The story is great, and had I read the book instead of listened I’d probably have no criticism. The narrator seems to not know the proper pronunciation for words that are relatively commonplace in the literary world (such as surreptitiously), there are also points where you can clearly tell that the voice actor either stopped and changed location, or that the section was re-recorded. Given that audiobooks are generally more expensive to account for paying voice actors (as they should be!) it is annoying that these issues take you out of the story when I think they should be basic things to avoid.

Just okay

I can see why others might enjoy this series. I came across it due to the authors skits (which did have spoilers from time to time). While the first couple at least held my interest this one I found really boring and at least for now I won't be continuing the series. Not a bad book, just not my preference.
