Publisher's summary

"We're the D'Artigo sisters: Half-human, half-Faerie, we are savvy - and sexy - operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. But our mixed-blood heritage short-circuits our talents at all the wrong times. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch whose magic is as unpredictable as the weather. My sister Delilah transforms into a tabby cat when she's under stress.

"And me? I'm Menolly, acrobat-extraordinaire-turned-vampire. And I'd give my right fang to make my sire pay for killing me. That is, if he doesn't find me first...

"All over Seattle, humans have been going missing, only to turn up as newborn vampires - the sure sign of a rogue vamp on the loose. It looks like Dredge is to blame - the same sadistic Dredge who gave me my scars and who may well be in cahoots with the demon Shadow Wing. If so, Otherworld and Earth are screwed. The only way we can hope to defeat Dredge is for me to travel home to Otherworld and face my own demons. For unless I sever the ties that bind me to Dredge, all hell is going to break loose."

I had my doubts, but . . .

This series grabbed me and now I can't wait for the next book to be released by Audible. I also enjoyed the narrator, but the best part are all of the magical characters that emerge over the 4 book series. While I usually enjoy a well written sex scene, the scenes in the first book felt awkward. Fortunately, the author realized where her strengths lie (tee hee). The series stays sexy without the graphic stuff -- and only gets better as it develops. More please.

Too gory

I really like this series. The characters are fully developed and interesting as is the add-in crew that is introduced with each succeeding book. However in this one the gore was unnecessarily repeated and repeated. I hope the next one does not go in this vein.

Great story, just not as good as the other 2.

Anther Great addition to the other world series. The story was great, but just a different feel to it than the last 2. This is a long series so I hope it changes.

Enjoyable Read from a New Perspective

What did you like best about Darkling? What did you like least?

Having read the preceding books I enjoyed the fleshing out of the main character. I enjoyed the look into her own personal baggage and found her more "connectable" then the other two sisters. I found the romance points far less jarring then with Witchling.

Overall I was surprised and happy with the series to date.

Would you recommend Darkling to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend the series to friends who enjoy this type of read. The type of characters are not for everyone.

What does Cassandra Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings accented reads and lends emotions were I might not have done so with my inner voice. Those emotions made some characters more likable.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I am not sure, I would like to say yes but these books are fairly short so would have to either take large liberties with the plot or combine several into a movie. Supernatural transfers to the "big screen" often seem to miss something from the books that takes away from their charm. In the end I would say probably.

wonderful new view

I love this series. It has a wonderful new view of the paranormal, fantasy world. It brings those old lores to life. The sisters are very realistic, not too perfect. I would caution that they all have some explicate sexual scenes, which are great fun, but not be sutible for young girls.

Great series

I am enjoying this series a great deal. I like how the author gives each sister a book to tell their part of the story and thst the characters are carried through out the series. That said Deliah is my least favorite character, which makes her books less enjoyable. She is a very whiny. selfish individual who has no self control. I could do without all the litterb talk as well. Great series and well written books. But Deliah needs to get s grip and stop being a selfish brat
