How (not) to get over your crush: compare him to every man on your dating app....
Chloe is on the wrong side of her quarter-life crisis. Dead-end job, lease ending, and single AF. It’s made all the harder by knowing exactly who the perfect man for her is: her super hot, incredibly kind, and extremely taken friend Austin. What’s a girl to do but drown her troubles in pinot and let her bestie open her an account on a dating app?
If there are other perfect men out there, she’s determined to find them.
Her ensuing series of boyfriends spark several revelations for Chloe:
- Never date a man with step-mommy issues.
- Always ask about criminal records on the first date.
- Swimsuits were never intended to be made from leather.
Maybe perfection is as overrated as her new app.
For every hopeless romantic looking for a road map to a happy ending, Dating Season is a laugh-out-loud novella series that doesn’t pull punches or close doors.

Parts 1 & 2 (Spring Fling & Summer Rebound):
Two zippy, sexy, and funny novellas follow Chloe as she lets BFF Charlotte attempt to steer her away from her secret crush on her male BFF, and totally taken, Austin. This “book” contains Chloe’s first two forays into dating with Spring Fling (matched with gym-nut Finn) and Summer Rebound (walks into a bar and finds bdsm loving, accountant-biker Dune). Content-wise, I give this two raunchy Chelsea Handler thumbs up! This is for listeners who can handle F-bombs, getting it on by the third date, and couples figuring out if their kinks match with mouthy, dirty enthusiasm.
Parts 3 & 4 (Fall Hard & Winter Bloom):
I was entertained by Sex in the City and the humor of Samantha and Carrie’s casual escapades. I didn’t notice the toxic vibes in some episodes until much later. With these parts, I didn’t have to wait years for my perspective to shift; I simultaneously enjoyed and cringed at the antics and concepts. It’s funny and clever, but also raunchy and wrong on multiple levels.
Mild spoilers that should already be obvious from the summaries:
By this middle part, Chloe has embraced dating apps, casual sex with four men in one year, and the stupidity of living with her crush Austin throughout all of it. My Chelsea Handler, Abby-normal brain laughed uproariously at kinky hijinks and sexy-food euphemisms while my Notorious RBG feminist brain eye-rolled and chastised me for supporting MC Chloe in multiple unhealthy scenarios. Chloe throws in with guys based upon a superficial love of beards, goes full-on-doormat and lets herself become the third wheel in a boyfriend-Chloe-mom sandwich, and continues to lead men on knowing she’s only dating them because they are runner-up stand-ins for the man she really wants. Meanwhile, Austin gas-lights all of her attempts to find love, like the evil peanut butter to her insane jelly… as they spend the whole book not acknowledging they are the perfect sandwich.
Parts 5 & 6 (Spring Fever & Summer Lovin’):
What sort of demented authors build an HEA around Bob Ross and his happy little trees?
And what kind of a twisted listener am I to love it?
Was this juvenile, crass, and full of people and plots I’d hate in real life? Yes.
Did I have a blast listening? Also yes.
Apparently, I am exactly the twisted listener this was written for.
Finally, all six parts in one book
