About this listen

The Stormking has brokered an uneasy peace with the West, but the threat of an elven invasion looms in the East.

Hoping to prevent a bloody war, Will departs in search of the mythical hidden gate to the elven homeland and believes the country is safe in his absence.

He is wrong.

Adept at manipulation, the elves seek to conquer from within, and their spies have already infiltrated the kingdom. As Selene prepares to defend her throne, she discovers that the elven plot runs deeper than the blackest shadows. Duty demands she put her nation first, but a loathsome ally urges a darker choice. Beset by foes and without the Stormking, she has never been so alone… or vulnerable.

She cannot win without power. To gain it, she must embrace an ancient evil or make the ultimate sacrifice. But she is Selene, the lich queen of Terabinia, and defiance is in her blood. When the hour comes, she will rise to face her legacy—and curse—as the Daughter of the Dragon.

Frustrating

What to say? I loved all the books of Art of the Adept. I also loved every part of the previous book. This one started well enough, then choices were made that made it extremely boring to me. It got better at the end, but still very frustrating. And yet, I am excited for the next book, so there's that.

Another entertaining listen

Great story as usual, I do like it when each book is complete and all the threads are tied up. This series compared to the previous series is a little loose with that.

Excellent continuation of the store

After book one in this series I've warmed up to the multiple perspectives storytelling and boy oh boy was this a great book. I love the lore of this world and I think Will is my all time favorites hero just cause he's that much of a badass. I know a lot of readers lost faith after book 5 in Art if the Adept but if you're on the fence about Wrath of the Storm king, it's 100% worth it. Can't wait for the next book in the series. I'm a binge reader/listener so please hurry p.p

We're so back

Great continuation, a lot of Lore drops that tie the story together spanning multiple series. Long time fans will see them coming but very satisfying. Also the the new developments were very exciting. My one complaint is that the book ended and now I have to wait for the next one lol

The continuation of a great series

it was really nice to come back to this world. I like the further fleshing out of the support characters although some were absent which confused me. The stakes in this one didn't seem as direct as the art of the adept series.

1. somewhat shorter than the proceeding books.
2. waiting for the next book will be a struggle.

Focusing on characters we don't like at all..

We were made to understand and come to grips with who the main character was, thus leading us to enjoy Him. We were also lead to dislike all of the characters featured in this book. 15 chapters in and we finally travel with the disliked characters to an actual second plot setting. Very disappointed in this book and probably wont bother to follow this boring ark of previously defeated foes that we honestly were happy to be away from in the first place. I can't even bother to finish this narrative. In before fake amazon bot reviews.

Overall disapointing

I don’t know what i was expecting, but it wasn’t this. There are some spoilers but I believe including Mordecai and Pennie as actual characters this time around was a mistake. Not only does it lower the stakes if this series it also devalues the ending of the other series Manning wrote given their apparent agency. I don’t want to give too many spoilers but there are other characters that make a reappearance for the worse as well. All in all, despite the desperate tone it fees like the story had no stakes and no consequences.
