About this listen

Read by the author.

The real talk you want about pregnancy, birth, body image, and the newborn days from Meghan Trainor, the chart-topping singer-songwriter behind "All About That Bass" and "Dear Future Husband," and, more importantly, Riley's mom.

Meghan Trainor has wanted to be a mom since before she even knew how babies were made. From the moment she discovered she was pregnant with her first child—her son, Riley—she was fascinated by the entire experience.

Yes, pregnancy and motherhood are miracles—but even a miracle can freak you out sometimes. Everyone has an opinion on what an expectant mother should feel, think, or do during her pregnancy, and it's hard not to feel overwhelmed with app notifications, well-meaning questions, and unsolicited advice that comes from friends, family, and perfect strangers.

Dear Future Mama is a heartfelt and humorous guide for expectant mamas inspired by Meghan's own journey into motherhood and expert insights from Meghan's own personal trainer, registered dietitian, husband, and ob-gyn. No shame, no judgment—just straight talk (and laughs) from a bestie who's been there, including

  • a TMI guide to the good, bad, and WTF of conception, pregnancy, and childbirth
  • advice about everything from ovulation apps to random hair growth
  • Meghan's personal stories about body image, mental health, and navigating her career path as a new mother
  • permission to find the right path for you—ignoring the judgment of others and freeing yourself from the shifting standards of motherhood

Dear Future Mama offers future mamas a place to relax, laugh out loud, and get the pep talk they need to know that they are absolutely not alone.

Exercises, recipes, and reference tables are included in the audiobook companion PDF download.

LOVE this book

Meghan provided a perfect overview of her experience with everything affecting pregnancy, from physical symptoms to mental health, family relationships, fitness, nutrition, and partners’ role. This book was not preachy but she just told her experience in a straightforward way.

Feel like I’m talking to my real life bestie

I recommend any Mom or dad whether you are looking to start a family, currently pregnant or have already given birth listen to this amazing book. My daughter is 10 years old and I can still relate to everything Meghan talks about. It has helped me remember how I felt way back when I was pregnant myself and made me now realize that those feelings are normal.

Meghan wrote this with so much thought and care and read it with so much joy and spice. Such an easy listen. I’m currently in the trenches of postpartum and this made me feel so seen and validated. It really feels like we’re best friends now.

Thank you!

Meghan, thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for being so vulnerable, raw, open and honest. Thank you for including all phases of mamas from each trimester, to after birth and even including moms that have experienced pregnancy loss/infertility. This book was so informative and so fun to read. Thank you for bringing in Daryl to share his dad/husband perspective. Thank you for sharing your experience and for prepping us mamas to be. Truly appreciate it all. Your bestie reader Alex! <3

Motivating, Comedic Positivity & 100% Real

I just finished reading her book. I am a mama that has two sons that will be turning ages two and three inside of a few months. I am so grateful that I listened to her book! It helped ease this momma's mind quite a bit.

Thank you!

Dear Meghan, Thank you for being so honest and open about all your experiences during pregnancy. I am 22 years old and 5 months pregnant, so I don’t really have any close friends who have been pregnant yet. This felt like having a best friend who understands me and supports me and shared her experience with me. My husband and I got married 10 months ago and he has been really supportive through all the pregnancy. Sometimes I feel bad, like I ask or get too much; but reading about how I deserve it and Daryl supported so much during your pregnancy makes me feel better and that I do deserve it, I am making a whole baby! Thank you so much for this amazing book. I am usually not a big reader, but I finished this audiobook so fast!
